I belive helping to build confidence is the most important thing an economics tutor can do for a student. Confidence in one area can flow into other areas of study/life. A positive and supportive tutor can have influence on a students life in future years of study and life. Patience, understanding, positive attitude, growth mindset,…

Being understanding and open minded may perhaps be the most important thing that an economics tutor can do for a student. Every student has varying strengths and limits and thus following the same approach may not have the desired result. Thus, being patient and having more than one explanation may prove in handy and help make a student develop…

I believe the key purpose of an economics tutor is not only to improve a students grades but also encourage intellectual curiosity. Due to the individuality of each student a personalised experience must be created by tutors, through adapting teaching methods and lesson plans, to stimulate the unique minds of students. Further tutors must…

*Be a mentor, rather than an economics tutor. My aim would be to gain the trust of my students so that they do not feel even a tad bit shy or hesitant in sharing their queries and problems they encounter in the course of their studies. *Encourage students to ask questions, and answering them to the best of my abilities, without any hint of…

I think that the tutor acts as a mentor for the student. In this role, the tutor should encourage the students to think critically in order to find answers to their questions. By providing the means to discover the answers for themselves, the tutor ensures that the student does not merely address the 'what' of the question but is also able to…

For a student, the worst thing an economics tutor can do is to strike fear into them about their progress or their work. I consider a tutor's job to support the student in every way: academically, physically, and psychologically. I believe the most important thing an economics tutor can and should do for a student is to be adaptable to their circumstances and learning style. I believe the most important thing for an economics tutor to do is to cultivate the interest and engagement of the students. In Chinese, there is an idiom that roughly translates to "Interest is the best teacher", by actively engaging the interests of students you make learning not a chore, but rather a joy. I believe that my biggest strength lies…

I have to give 5 stars, because I can't fault the system. Arman is doing a great job with Jeremiah, who is not a perfect student. EzyMath provide great assistance with issues, and good payment options. Communications are quickly answered.
Terry, Ringwood

Inside RingwoodTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Alicia practised fractions and percentages, including converting between the two, and worked through arithmetic with decimal places and division without remainders using back-checking strategies.

In Year 10, Justin focused on probability concepts, tackling chance scenarios and representing probabilities as fractions and decimals.

For Year 11, revision for Data Analysis SACs involved interpreting statistical data sets and reinforcing understanding of summary statistics using past assessment questions.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 Further Maths student repeatedly hesitated when breaking down worded application questions, often needing to "stop and re-read to figure out which formula fits," as one tutor noted. This slowed progress and left her less time for harder problems in SACs.

In Year 8 algebra, another student missed steps when transposing equations—struggling to keep track of negatives and losing confidence mid-way.

Meanwhile, a Grade 6 student's tendency to rely on counting instead of quick recall with times tables meant she lost focus during multi-step division tasks, sometimes forgetting why she started the question at all.

Recent Achievements

One Ringwood tutor noticed that April, a Year 12 student, made a real leap by applying new matrix skills to tough exam questions without much prompting—something she hesitated with just weeks ago.

In another session, Chloe (Year 10) started showing her working more consistently and has begun tackling worded problems step by step rather than freezing up at first glance.

For a younger student, Matilda's attitude has shifted: where she used to clam up on anything algebraic, this week she relaxed enough to try Pythagoras' theorem for the first time and managed to solve for a triangle side independently by her third question.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

So far Katie has been prompt, personable and prepared. As you say it is very early days -we are only just getting to the point where we are clear on where she is at and where she needs to be.

Yes we are happy with Kavindu. Emily seems more confident with one on one home tutoring than class tutoring. thanks

He's here now, drinking miso and walking Em through Pythagoras (poor sole). It's all good.  She appreciates this time and enjoys his learning insights so that's a winner.
