Chemistry Tutor Warragul, VIC
The most important thing a chemistry tutor can do is to make their students curious about the subject they are studying and help them retain the knowledge they had learnt I think my strengths are that I have a lot of knowledge in subjects that some students have trouble in and I can further expand that knowledge so that each student gets to…

Inside RokebyTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Mehar focused on converting between fractions and decimals using place values, and practiced adding, subtracting, multiplying, and simplifying both proper and improper fractions.

In Year 11, Gavin worked through solving linear equations and quadratic functions as well as exploring domain and range of functions using targeted practice questions.

Meanwhile, Alexander in Year 12 revised physics topics including kinematics with constant acceleration and forces on inclined planes, drawing from recent practice exam materials to strengthen his understanding before assessments.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11 Maths Methods, one student relied heavily on their CAS calculator for linearising data but had not practiced manual approaches, making it difficult to spot errors or understand underlying steps. He needed reminders to check each part instead of just entering values.

Meanwhile, a Year 7 learner often followed only teacher notes and avoided creating personal summaries—resulting in confusion when revising measurement formulas and units.

In another case, incomplete homework and unorganized note-taking meant missed chances for feedback on probability questions. The result: extra time spent re-learning rather than building new connections.

Recent Achievements

One Rokeby tutor recently noticed Gavin, a senior student, shift from confusion to confidently solving quadratic inequalities with the discriminant and expanding polynomials independently—last session he even explained how transformations affect graphs using matrices.

Tyler, preparing for a maths redemption task, previously struggled with direct and inverse variation but was able to work through tricky examples unaided after targeted practice.

In a younger year, Omita began justifying his answers aloud instead of guessing quietly; when challenged on area calculations, he talked through each step and now chooses strategies more independently than before.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I know it is only early days but Harley and Owen seem to have '˜clicked'.  They are working really well and not only is Harley's confidence growing but also his understanding of the maths chapters they have been studying has improved.   I no longer have to hassle him to do his homework - always a bonus!

Henry has had 3 sessions with Justin so far, and it is going very well. His current topic is algebra and he feels that he is benefitting from the additional assistance. Justin is punctual, helpful (even stayed back an extra 10-15 minutes last week to help Henry with a problem-solving sheet) and is very pleasant to have around.

Thank you for your email.  I am really enjoying working with David, he makes the study fun and very interesting. We're working through some gaps in my knowledge and then I am greatly looking forward to getting into the much more complicated and exciting math.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Drouin Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Buln Buln Primary School.
