Science Tutor Gosnells, WA
Helping students togrow and succeed is the goal of every tutor I feel I am able to really get to know each of my students as a person--as an individual. I try to get a feel for what strategies work with each one. They do not all learn the same and what works for one may not for another. I have always tried to be as flexible as…

Being patient and listening to the student, and being able to instill study habits and life lessons to students. I struggled myself as a student, and I think I can relate to certain obstacles of a student. Although, I did excel in high school as I worked hard. I am proficient in both hard sciences and social…

Inside RoleystoneTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Emily practised area and perimeter calculations, then reinforced multiplication and division of decimals alongside times tables review.

For Year 8, Daniel focused on probability questions—solving examples together and setting similar problems for homework.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Sarah worked on multiplying and simplifying algebraic fractions, using step-by-step breakdowns to clarify the process.

Recent Challenges

A Year 9 student's algebra work revealed that messy or incomplete setting out made it hard to spot errors; as one tutor put it, "setting out was a bit messy at the beginning but improved as the lesson progressed."

In Year 12, lack of organized notes and infrequent review of past mistakes led to repeated confusion in exam revision—missed feedback meant similar errors resurfaced.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 learner left homework unfinished, which limited time for building confidence with times tables and number stories.

For one Year 11 student, over-reliance on mental calculations in percentage questions caused misreads and lost marks during timed practice.

Recent Achievements

One Roleystone tutor noticed a Year 10 student who used to hesitate with algebraic fractions now quickly recognises which rule to apply and draws accurate diagrams without prompting.

In another high school session, a Year 11 student who often struggled with trigonometry finally understood the tougher ratio questions after using a sports metaphor, showing visible satisfaction at getting through the harder parts independently.

Meanwhile, in primary years, one younger learner who was initially unsure about area formulas now confidently explains how to calculate areas for both squares and rectangles and even identifies the correct units each time.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Things are going well. Chris is doing a very good job. Since the tutoring sessions, my daughter seems to be more positive and has stated that Chris is explaining the work well, which makes it easier to understand. I am confident that this was the right decision and can't wait to see the results.

I would like to commend Mandy on her fantastic work with Jack.  She has been so patient and we could not have asked for a better match with our son. Their hard work has paid off as we have received several comments from Jack's  teacher telling us how well he is going in maths and that there has been an improvement.

The experience has been great and the results speak for them self. My son gained confidence as a result of the tutoring and i would gladly recommend you to my friends and family. The tutor was very pleasant to work with and very approachable.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Kelmscott Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Roleystone Community College.
