The most important thing for a tutor is to understand the needs of the student and then perform. Don't put unnecessary pressure on the students. Understand the student and encourage them in this battle of subjects you are there with them. The words of assurance are the only thing that the students require and then they will perform their best. My…

Having faith in students, being supportive towards them and being patient with them. A tutor should always be available for doubts any number of times, and shouldn't get annoyed with students. The most important thing or a challenge for a tutor is to involve a student in a subject not just for it's technicality but for its application in real life. Therefore it's important to find the bridge between what you study and real life in not all but most cases to keep studies interesting. If not, find a funny way or create a situation that…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is simply be open to answer any questions a student might have. They need to be able to grasp the entire concept so that it can be applied in their school work. Inside RowvilleTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 9 student Bridget revised networks and graphs as well as matrices ahead of her SAC, focusing on interpreting network diagrams and matrix operations.

In Year 10, Cailin tackled challenging homework questions involving linear equations and quadratics, working through problem areas from previous assignments for clarity.

For Year 11, Alex reviewed financial mathematics topics like simple and compound interest using real-life scenarios, then practised solving related application problems to reinforce understanding.

Recent Challenges

In order to retain the content, she has to complete the assigned questions. Missing this step meant concepts in matrices and algebra slipped between sessions for the Year 10 student.

In Year 12 Chemistry, difficulty organizing formulas and recalling theory slowed progress on calculation-based tasks; a tutor observed that more work needs to be done to solve for x during problem-solving.

For a Year 7 student, not writing out notes during lessons led to distraction and gaps in understanding application questions.

Forgotten homework or partial revision made consolidating new skills harder each week.

Recent Achievements

One Rowville tutor noticed a big shift in a Year 10 student's approach to indices: after struggling to identify which formula to use, she now spots the right method herself and works through examples without hesitation.

In another session with a Year 12 student, the tutor saw genuine progress as Bridget finished most of her SAC preparation on matrices and networks; this time, she didn't just recall formulas but explained why each step mattered.

Meanwhile, a younger student who previously guessed answers during addition practice has started asking for help whenever unsure—last week, she completed all her grouping number questions independently.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Mohammad is fantastic. He puts in a great deal of effort to motivate Matthew. He comes prepared and ready to teach.

Jane is doing a fantastic job communicating and breaking things down for Chelsea.

I have got to say that Miles is absolutely perfect. Besides being prompt and all that, his explanations are so good that Roland shares them with his school friends to enable them to understand tricky concepts in class. They inevitably will say “Oh, I understand now!” He is making Maths Methods manageable.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Rowville Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Rowville Primary School.
