Modern History Tutor Cashmere, QLD
I believe that teaching students how to become a more independent learner is the most important thing that a tutor can do. As a tutor, it is important to help guide students through their work but not become a crutch that they rely too heavily upon. This way, students will be better equipped to handle the rest of their time at school. Helping…

Modern History Tutor Cashmere, QLD
Always be a support system academically for their student and listen to their concerns and questions. It is also important to be adjustable and able to adapt to any changes of learning styles for a student. However, the most important thing for a tutor to do is to always believe in them and their ability. I am very patient and good at problem…

Local Reviews

Katie has been absolutely amazing to my daughter. Even just on the first trial session my daughter felt she has learned a lot from Katie. My daughter has been stressing out with her Chemistry assessment but with Katie's help she was able to submit it on time and hopefully she will get a high mark for it.

Inside SamsonvaleTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Anabelle practiced reading and sorting **sight words into groups**, then worked on writing sentences to strengthen her literacy skills.

For Year 10, Micah focused on creative writing tasks in English by **drafting and proofreading a short story**, while also revising grammar fundamentals like sentence structure and comma use.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Ethan tackled trigonometry—**applying SOH CAH TOA to solve for unknown sides and angles**—and was introduced to inverse trigonometric functions through practice questions.

Recent Challenges

Several high school students did not bring essential materials or class notes to tutorials, which made it harder to review mistakes or keep track of progress—one tutor wrote, "student forgot for the first lesson."

In Year 11 Methods, a student skipped homework and struggled with setting out working clearly when rearranging equations, leading to confusion with unknowns in fractions.

Another senior student completed a practice exam quickly but omitted key steps; errors crept in as checking was skipped.

Meanwhile, a Year 3 learner hesitated to sound out unfamiliar words, preferring to guess after seeing only the first few letters.

Recent Achievements

One high school student, who'd struggled to identify the right trigonometric ratio for different problems, was able to confidently apply SOH CAH TOA and even tackle worded questions after some practice.

Another older student began handing in draft essays on time—a real shift from previous delays—and responded well to feedback by quickly picking up grammar points that had caused confusion before.

Meanwhile, in primary sessions, Tayla—who found fraction work tricky last term—solved conversion problems easily this week and completed her homework without needing extra reminders.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Esme has connected with her tutor and is progressing well. We are pleased with the progress so far.

Tutoring seems to be going well. I think both Matthew and Abbey are starting to settle into a routine. Abbey has started to apply some of the methods Matthew has shown her to school work. She has come home from school a couple of times now, saying she was asked a question during maths time and got it right. Which, of course, she was very happy about! Within the next few weeks, I will receive Abbey's report for semester 1. I will show Matt, so he has even more understanding of her needs. I'm looking forward to seeing what they achieve in the coming months.

Georgia and myself are very happy with our tutor, Jess. They have a good rapport together and Georgia improved in confidence and Maths already.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Albany Creek Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Mount Samson State School.
