Maths Tutor Aldinga, SA
Overall achievement is important of course however bringing out a students fascination is key as fascination makes learning both enjoyable and engaging. Explanations and visualisations are one of my strengths. I can explain complex concepts to people with little understandings about the subject. I can also grasp concepts quickly which allows me to…

Inside Sellicks BeachTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Emily practised rounding numbers to the nearest ten and hundred, as well as worked through division by 10, 100, and 1,000 using place value grids.

In Year 8, Olivia focused on algebraic factorisation—covering difference of two squares and perfect square trinomials—and also spent time on rules for expanding brackets.

Meanwhile, Year 9 student Jacob tackled trigonometry problems involving finding unknown sides and angles in triangles, then moved onto probability questions with frequency tables.

Recent Challenges

In Year 4, a student avoided writing out working in multiplication tasks, which made it hard to spot where she went wrong with carrying digits.

In Year 8 algebra, a lack of confidence led to freezing up when starting new problems—she often needed questions rephrased before attempting them.

During a senior trigonometry lesson, not labeling triangle sides clearly resulted in confusion between sine and cosine; as noted, she misread the word problem and mixed up the angles.

Meanwhile, another student in Year 7 would second-guess every answer on times tables revision and erase correct responses repeatedly before moving on.

Recent Achievements

One Sellicks Beach tutoring session saw a Year 9 student, Lara, take real initiative by asking for help on topics she'd previously found tricky—like graphing parabolas and scientific notation—and then quickly applying the concepts independently.

Another high school win: Sasha in Year 10 was able to identify her own mistakes while working through factorisation questions, correcting them with little prompting—a big step from earlier sessions when she needed frequent guidance.

For a younger learner, Nicole (Year 4) recently moved from relying on finger-counting for her 5 times tables to answering fluently without prompts, finishing her worksheet solo for the first time.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

The tutoring is going tremendously well.  The system you use, the high level of communication and dependability shown by Nirvan, and the teaching style is working exceptional well.  I'm very impressed with your service, and its meeting my (high) expectations.  I fully appreciate that this is not a quick fix, and it takes time.  We're committed to continuing this throughout Term 3 and 4 at least. The support and patience Nirvan is showing is really helping Emily, and he is supportive and has the capacity to challenge her at the right pace.  I've asked her why some things that we've tried to work through before have made more sense when explained by Nirvan.  She said that he works at her pace and stays with something until she understands it. Many thanks.  Your back-office communications is also highly supportive of parents and whilst you're delivering on what you've clearly explained, I find your level of communication extremely professional, supportive and consistent.

The tutoring seems to be going well. I've asked Niamh and she is also very comfortable and happy with Ben. First maths test since her tutoring with Ben started and she received a mark of 90 so I think we're on the right track.

We are very happy with Kieren. Quinn thinks it's fun and Ronan, although he's very shy, is comfortable with Kieren.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Aldinga Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Southern Vales Christian College - Aldinga Campus.
