I think a tutor can help a student to boost confidence in a situation where a little more dedicated time and effort could make possible. A tutor can develop a learning strategy that the student can follow, to make a difficult or boring subject easier and interesting to learn. Undivided attention by a tutor, which would help the students to…

I believe it would be to clearly identify where the student is lacking and how best to tackle that specific weakness. Then from there take it one step at a time till the student is comfortable enough to increase the pace. The key is to subtly increase the pace such that they wont notice or get overwhelmed. Given my education and occupation, I have…

Inside Seville GroveTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Isabelle worked on calculating the area of triangles and using **concrete models to bridge into abstract understanding**.

For Year 8, Tom focused on **fraction addition and subtraction** alongside practicing questions involving alternate and corresponding angles.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Sienna tackled **solving linear equations with two unknowns and transposing equations**, reinforcing her algebra skills through step-by-step practice.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student repeatedly arrived at sessions without their homework or notebook, making it harder to review progress and build on previous lessons.

In Year 11 maths, a student relied heavily on their calculator for classpad support but struggled when required to show full working during tests—"he needs to practice doing questions manually," as noted.

For a Year 6 lesson, messy handwriting sometimes made mathematical steps unclear, especially with equations and symbols; small changes in layout could have clarified her reasoning.

Meanwhile, a senior student tackling exam revision found it difficult to organize notes efficiently before study sessions, leading to extra time spent hunting for key concepts rather than applying them.

Recent Achievements

A Seville Grove tutoring session with a Year 10 student saw Owen, who previously struggled with multiplying negative numbers and transposing equations, start catching his own technical mistakes and even ask for extra homework to challenge himself.

In another high school session, Flynn—just introduced to matrices at school—was able to confidently work through addition, subtraction, and multiplication of matrices on his classpad without much help.

Meanwhile, a primary-aged student recently came prepared with specific questions about tricky fractions, openly discussing what felt confusing instead of staying quiet as they had before.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Madison has now had two sessions with Emma, they seem to be going well, Emma is very personable, has been working on some practice sheets with Madison for an upcoming maths test.  All seems well so far.

It is going well with Gerard. Gerard is focusing on homework each week and then extending him in certain areas, such as fractions and decimals, which he finds hard. Luke has mentioned that he has learnt some new ways of approaching some problems and algorithms, which has made him feel more confident at school. Gerard has a lovely manner and appears to relate well to Luke.

Gabie really likes Michael and his way of teaching. We are very happy with him so far. I am very impressed with your staff so far.
