It was a relief to deal with people not AI. Thank you for being on the other end of the telephone. At 81 years old my typing and internet skills are not increasing.

Inside Soldiers PointTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 9 student Olivia focused on algebraic equations and simplifying expressions, using targeted practice to build confidence with these problem areas.

For Year 8, Ethan worked through financial maths topics including depreciation and calculating dividend yield, applying real-world examples for clarity.

Meanwhile, primary student Liam revised multiplication and division facts alongside angles, making use of diagrams to reinforce his understanding of basic operations and geometry.

Recent Challenges

In recent sessions, a Year 11 student tackling financial maths was observed to "rely on formulas and putting numbers in to get an answer," which led to confusion when faced with unfamiliar or wordy problems.

In Year 9 algebra, one student hesitated to attempt challenging questions unless the method matched classroom examples; if structure changed, she became stuck until prompted.

Another Year 8 student working through speed and distance struggled with messy written work—her layout made errors hard to spot and correct.

In each case, dependence on procedure over understanding meant deeper learning or independent problem-solving stalled under pressure.

Recent Achievements

One Soldiers Point tutor recently noticed Danika, a high school student, coming to sessions with her own list of class questions—something she hadn't done before—and working through most problems independently after initially struggling to retain new content.

Another high schooler, Liz, has started tackling advanced financial maths exam questions on her own; she now openly discusses answers and even explains her reasoning when the tutor is unsure, which marks a shift from earlier sessions where she hesitated to speak up.

Meanwhile, in Year 7, Lara managed to apply feedback from previous lessons and completed a practice test almost entirely without help, scoring 22 out of 25.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I would like to thank you for a great opportunity working with Ezymath. It is a well organized company that provides many great resources such as the CEP modules and textbooks online. The administration is very helpful and cheerful. I have learnt plenty being a tutor both personally and professionally. I have also had the joy of meeting new and exciting students that I was lucky to teach.

I have found the Ezymath process to be highly professional and effectively adaptive in addressing the many challenges that can be associated with home tutoring programs. More specifically, (a) The fact that tutors come to the student's home environment (b) flexibility in arranging time-frames (c) open lines of communication for input and feedback in relation to student's progress and adaptability to the home tutoring process. I've also found the transparency associated with invoicing and the progress reports to be impressive. I'm unable however to comment on the reality Elijah's progress with his math challenges. Instead, I rely on Ezymath reports, as well as input from Elijah's parents and school teachers. Whilst still early days yet, evidently, there does appear to be some evidence suggesting that Elijah is gaining confidence and competence in maths. I believe Elijah's parents are planning to continue having tutoring session during the Summer break.

We wanted to commend Amelia, one of your tutors who has been working with our daughter Mila on her grade 6 maths. Amelia has been fantastic in all respects - friendly, punctual, encouraging, and a highly effective tutor who has helped Mila achieve her best report in maths to date.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Tomaree Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Soldiers Point Public School.
