Biology Tutor Munruben, QLD
A lot of the time teachers/tutors will try and give up trying to make huge steps and get disappointed when they don't get everything. I think a biology tutor needs to take small steps, and praise them when they accomplish something, no matter how small. It is important that they do get praise or they will be disappointed and not want to continue…

Biology Tutor Greenbank, QLD
For me, a biology tutor isn't a person that helps a student achieve a high grade or even a grade that a student wants - although that is one characteristic of the job. For the most part, a tutor is someone who sharpens the pencil that the teacher has given the student, and shows them how to write properly. They erase the mistakes the student…

Inside South MacleanTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Alex explored displaying data, focusing on histograms and identifying which statistics concepts needed extra support.

In Year 10, Jess worked through trigonometry problems, concentrating on applying relevant formulas in preparation for an upcoming exam.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Alex reviewed how to classify scatterplots and calculate standard deviation—using both manual and calculator methods—and discussed interpreting variance in the context of a real-world assignment on fuel consumption efficiency.

Recent Challenges

A Year 12 student reported missing marks on a recent test due to not labelling units and graphs, as well as difficulty using her calculator for standard deviation—"most were small errors," she explained.

In Year 9, one student often looked at complex word problems and "didn't know where to start," leading to lost time until each step was broken down together.

For a Year 8 algebra session, skipping steps when converting equations led to repeated sign errors that were hard to catch later.

In senior calculus, uncertainty with rules like the chain rule caused hesitation mid-question, breaking focus just when confidence mattered most.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in South Maclean noticed Diali has started catching her own errors during practice exams, a big step up from last term when she'd rush through without checking.

In Year 11 maths, one student who previously hesitated with worded problems is now breaking them into steps and confidently underlining key details before solving—she even tackled three substitution questions independently this week.

Meanwhile, Alex (Year 7) contributed her own ideas while working through a scatterplot assignment, instead of just following along as she used to. At the end of her session, she volunteered to do an extra question on her own.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Aurelius is fantastic.  Christian and him have hit it off really well and Chris is getting a lot from Aurelius knowledge.  Much appreciated.

Everything going well at the moment, no issues and Michael is an extremely patient and competent tutor. Alex is enjoying the sessions and appears to be moving forward.

So far so good with Amelia - she has always been punctual, professional and friendly and Mila feels comfortable with her.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Jimboomba Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Australian Technology and Agricultural College.
