Prepare before a lesson -themselves and any resoruces they may want to use. Listen to where the student is at with their learning and understanding, then work from there - work *with* the student. Use the student's strengths to teach them better, eg. giving more examples, or providing x amount of time to complete a certain activity, etc. I…

The most important things are to provide guidance and nurture their motivation so that they can accomplish their educational goals. The challenges that the students face with a subject can only be overcome by the students. Tutors can assist by explaining the concepts and providing examples, but the students' motivation is necessary as only then…

Help him get to ease with the course, make it not feel like a burden but something the pupil has control over, allow him to see his strengths and focus on the knowledge he is gaining from it, and how he can benefit from it. Algebra is useful in so many fields but kids don't understand that thus don't pay attention, and learn it just to forget…

The most important thing a tutor can do for their students is to foster a love for learning. Inside South PenrithTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Katie worked on applying the Pythagoras theorem to complex word problems and practised interpreting probability scenarios involving cards and dice.

For Year 10, Isabella received support with her maths assignment, focusing particularly on vector proofs and resolving issues in understanding key concepts.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Olivia prepared for an upcoming exam by revising trigonometric graphs and log laws, tackling targeted practice questions for consolidation.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 student hesitated to show full working in indices and trigonometry, with comments such as "she was trying to memorise the answer rather than how to work out the questions." This avoidance led to confusion when facing new question formats.

Meanwhile, a Year 8 student's written solutions on Pythagoras and fractions lacked clarity—errors in squaring numbers or missing steps slowed progress during review.

In primary, one child struggled to add beyond five without finger-counting, which made basic calculations laborious and eroded confidence when circling multiple-choice answers.

Unclear written processes often left gaps that became stumbling blocks during revision or tests.

Recent Achievements

One South Penrith tutor recently noticed a Year 11 student who'd struggled with log laws and trigonometric graphs finally start using log rules confidently and finish graphing tasks without second-guessing every step.

In a Year 8 session, a student who was hesitant to ask for help before now stops the lesson to clarify what she doesn't understand, instead of just guessing—she's also tackling more complex probability questions independently.

Meanwhile, one of our primary students who used to mix up repeated addition and multiplication can now explain the difference between "4x" and "x⁴," even giving her own examples during the lesson.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

We are very happy with Simon. Ryan has taken to the tutoring really well. One on one has really helped as he cannot get distracted by other kids and Simon keeps him on his toes and listening attentively.

I would like to say that Miranda is an outstanding, caring and patient tutor. She has a gift for working with kids. She is a huge asset to your company and the ezymath family.

We are thrilled with Ross he is so knowledgeable and has a great rapport with James already. Very happy customers.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Penrith City Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Penrith South Public School.
