The most important thing for me I guess is to connect with them in a way they feel like they can be comfortable around me so that maybe then they get inspired to learn; to be an inspiration, that is. I once scrolled past this quote on social media that made so much sense to me, "You cannot teach children to behave better by making them feel worse.…

It sounds clichĂ© but it's helping unlock student potential. Many times a student is struggling is usually due to elements within the school or home environment that is hindering their progress, not their intrinsic intelligence. Tutoring can provide the means for a much more personal interaction where obstructions to learning can be quickly…

Understand the way the student learns whether it be needed to be explained in different ways or finding accronyms to help them remember for exam like situations. Even just understanding what the teachers wants and allowing them to learn from your past experiences I am empathetic about the way some teachers can merely just focus on the syllabus and…

The most important thing an english tutor can do is to inspire passion; a person who is sincerely interested in a subject and has a drive to continue delving into it will naturally go much further and achieve much higher then an unmotivated genius no matter the intellect as they will enjoy the entire journey of learning and not just focus on the…

As an english tutor, the most important thing we can do is to give a student the confidence they need to succeed. Every student has the inherent ability to be successful but they may not have the right resources or knowledge to bring out that confidence within themselves. As a tutor, we are giving them resources and knowledges that helps them…

It is important to also identify what motivates and excites each student to learn and encourage active engagement in the tutoring sessions. As a tutor,…

The most important thing would be clearing doubts for a student as I am also a student and I can understand how important it is when a student is confused and is not able to go about with their problems. Problem solving is the key to one's understanding and in addition to this, practice makes everyone perfect. I would be able to help the students…

Truly the most important thing any tutor can do for a student is to help create and cultivate a growth mindset. By doing this, students become lifelong, innovative learners. This certainly occurs in the classroom, but teachers are expected to do this to upwards of 20+ children. Tutors are important to students because they assist in expanding…

The most important thing an english tutor can do for a student is help build their confidence. A student is able to do anything, learn anything but only if they believe that they can do it or learn it. Obviously bumping up grades. But before that comes there is the massive component where the tutor is able to let the student feel like they actually know what they're doing. Instilling confidence in someone and helping them to not feel dumb can change the way they approach learning and improve everything about their academic life. Coming from…

Inside SouthportTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 11 student Mason worked on mastering the application of the product, chain, and quotient rules for differentiation, including tackling real-world optimisation problems using second derivatives.

Year 12 student Alex focused on logarithmic and exponential equations—reviewing their graphs and properties—and practised applying integration techniques to calculate areas between curves.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Georgia consolidated her understanding of trigonometric functions by practising sine and cosine rules with diagrams, then applied these skills to find unknown sides and angles in non-right-angled triangles.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student often mixed up multiplication strategies, as noted: "He breaks down 12x7 as 10x7 + 2x7, but sometimes switches methods mid-question," which led to confusion and extra time spent clarifying steps.

In Year 4 maths, one student relied heavily on concrete tools for translating word problems but struggled to move toward abstract equations without these aids.

For a Year 11 student preparing for exams, incomplete summary notes made it difficult to recall earlier content; this resulted in confusion during multi-topic revision sessions and slower progress on mock tests.

Confidence would waver after encountering tough exponential questions in senior maths, sometimes stopping them from completing solutions even when their working was correct.

Recent Achievements

A Southport tutor recently noticed Jakob, a Year 5 student, making a big leap by tackling decimal homework questions on his own—just last month he needed step-by-step guidance for each one.

In Year 10 maths, Rachel started speaking up and sharing her ideas aloud during lessons instead of waiting for prompts; this is the first time she's shown that kind of initiative.

Meanwhile, a Year 12 student took it upon himself to search out the trapezoidal rule independently to solve an unfamiliar calculus problem, showing real growth in self-driven problem-solving.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

1. I am very impressed with the service your Company provides. Mihika is an outstanding Tutor, and the feedback you have provided in terms of monthly report is very well received. well done!!! 2. In case you guys don't do any formal Customer feedback surveys, I would highly likely recommend your Company to others parents seeking this type of assistance.

Raymond is FANTASTIC - the benefits of his tutoring is already obvious with my eldest very confident and my youngest gaining it!

Our son started with his maths tutor in Year 6, he was struggling and his marks were in the lower quartile of the class.  Now half way through Year 7, he's gained confidence with maths and achieving excellent marks placing him above the year average.  His tutor is a great young uni student, he takes the time to explain problems in a way our son can understand them, he's patient and clear when he needs to redirect a problem.  One of the great benefits is the wonderful example he has been to our son, showing him how maths will play an important part in what he might want to do in the future. We are extremely pleased with results our son is achieving and credit a lot of the improvement to the support and work of our Ezy Math Tutor.  We love that tutoring happens at home and at a time that works for us a family.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Southport Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like The Southport School.
