Maths Tutor Ormeau, QLD
I believe that learning should be a fun process. When students are engaged in learning, they can actually retain what they have learnt during the lesson. Being encouraging helps students gain confidence in their abilities and increases their willingness to learn. It is also important for a maths tutor to guide the student in the right direction so…

I consider the most important things that a maths tutor can do for a student to be providing them knowledgeable support in their academic journey and applying their past experiences of the education system to their teachings. Most of all though, understanding that keeping up with studies is very important, whether a student has fallen behind or…

It is very important that a student has trust in their tutor and whilst learning can also have fun. A student needs to feel like they are in a safe environment before learning can occur. I will bring out the best in every student in their own unique ways. I will show them that they can do anything they put their mind to it and help guide them onto…

Develop a good study habit for the students. Sharing experiences from when I was in their position to build up their confidence. Make them understand the importance of time management. My strengths as a person who wants to tutor is that I am great at communicating with young people. I am very collaborative meaning I will be able to make the…

I think being positive and encouraging is the best thing a maths tutor can do. With previous students I have tutored, I found that many of them lacked the confidence in themselves, making them less interested in the work and anxious about assessments. But breaking the question/concept down, encouraging them to try, suggesting different methods to…

EzyMath have been great. Good communicators and they listen to what the student requires. Any small issues we have had, have been dealt with promptly.

Inside SteiglitzTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Jamie practised 3-digit by 1-digit division and worked on identifying proper and improper fractions.

For Year 7, Milly focused on converting between improper fractions and mixed numbers as well as reviewing multiplication of decimal numbers through homework tasks.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Zoe tackled trigonometry problems involving angle of elevation and depression, plus practiced converting between degrees and DMS (degrees, minutes, seconds) for accuracy in her calculations.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student struggled to keep written calculations neat during long division, which led to mixing up which numbers to multiply with or divide by in each step, as one tutor noted.

In Year 10, anxiety after missing school made it difficult for another student to focus on diagrams in geometry—errors crept in when transferring information from questions.

A senior student revising for exams relied heavily on a formula sheet but hesitated to write out full solutions; this reluctance slowed improvement and left mistakes unchecked during practice papers.

Each scenario saw time lost reworking basics instead of advancing skills.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Steiglitz recently noticed a big shift with a Year 9 student who, after weeks of missing small errors, now double-checks her division steps and sometimes catches mistakes herself before moving on.

Another high schooler in Year 10 was able to break down complex area problems using formulas and could explain her reasoning out loud—something she used to avoid for fear of making mistakes.

Meanwhile, a younger student surprised his tutor by finishing all ten multiplication table questions correctly and without needing reminders to slow down or check his answers.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I decided to work  for Ezy Math Tutoring because it seemed very flexible and would fit in very well with my university schedule. At first, I was only expecting to learn a bit about being a good communicator and be able to engage people but it was a lot more than that. The real highlight for me was that no matter the ability of the child you are teaching, the minute that they start to improve and get better grades, that is THE best reward you can get. My biggest highlight was when one of my students who had just finished his HSC told me that he got a whole 20 marks higher than he was expecting at first for his Maths exam and he thanked me for my time. I recommend Ezy Math Tutoring to potential customers who want personalised help for their child and being assigned a tutor who cared as much as I did for my students to achieve their potential. As for potential tutors, this experience is so rewarding because you really do care for your students' progress and you develop skills that will help you for life.

I just wanted to let you know that Mila is very happy with her new tutor Amelia. She told me after her lesson tonight that Amelia is really helping her a lot, and that she is understanding concepts more clearly and feeling more confident in class and while doing homework.

I chose to work as a tutor with EzyMath whilst completing my university studies in order to gain valuable work experience and to also help others within mathematics which I have a strong passion for. I have only positive experiences with EzyMath Tutoring through their on-going support when starting out as a tutor, the continuous learning provided through their tutoring modules and online resources and the process they use when contacting a client. My biggest accomplishment whilst working as a tutor with EzyMath was seeing students improve immensely in there grades and also being able to assist the students with their own personal goals in regards to mathematics. Personally whilst working as a tutor I became more confident, organised, patient and developed the ability to explain complex concepts using easy-to-understand terms. EzyMath Tutoring is a fantastic organisation to work with and for students who are struggling within maths to become a part of.
