I consider making the student comfortable and confident the most important thing. If the student is neither of these, they aren’t going to want to learn My strengths are definitely math. I was academic though high school but chose not to proceed into…

Tutors work with students to guide their learning process, by personalising the content delivery in a way the child is able to respond to. This also incorporates the ability to motivate the child to learn, to believe in their own abilities and to strive to keeping persevering. I believe I have the necessary strength simply to push. I describe…

I think that the most important thing an english tutor can do for a student is to give their best effort to explain the subject while still letting the student have a chance at engaging with the subejct matter. This is because students in my opinion tend to learn better from the encouragement that they recieve upon engagement to the material. I…

English Tutor Glen Forrest, WA
The most important thing an english tutor can do for a student is to allow them to build up their own confidence in the subject that they are struggling in, as well as allowing them not to see the subject as a chore or something to avoid, but as an enjoyable and fun task that would be highly useful for the future! My strengths are that I would…

I think it is important for an english tutor to act as a guide for a students learning, supporting them to develop tools and skills that work best for them and can be replicated in the classroom. Throughout my own school experience, I often had to approach tasks in different ways to what was standard or expected. I believe this reflects in my…

It's really important to know your students. Through developing relationships with students you build your understanding of how to cater lessons to enhance their unique way of learning. Knowing your students is critical in building relationships, respect and for the children to have success in their learning. I am well organised, have great time…

The most important aspect of tutoring for me would be the empathy and patience for students. As a student that in my youth, there was an enormous amount of pressure to succeed in academic activities, I know that being pressured by these ideas or concepts can be very confusing and stressful. So, I think being there for a student and never judging…

Inside StonevilleTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Henry focused on probability as fractions, decimals, and percents, along with reading and interpreting the probability line using real-life examples.

For Year 8, Olivia practised simplifying algebraic expressions involving polynomials and applied the distributive property to expand brackets.

Meanwhile, a Year 5 student explored mean, median, and range in data sets by organising numbers and finding central values together.

Recent Challenges

Several high school students missed homework deadlines, notably in Year 9 English ("didn't complete set homework by me (re-do of introduction)"), and Year 8 Maths ("didn't complete any of the probability questions that were given to her").

A Year 10 student avoided writing out answers herself in class, relying on the tutor instead: "Ava continues to find excuses on not writing herself, and getting me to write answers for her."

Distraction was a recurring challenge—one Year 7 student's focus drifted repeatedly during algebra revision, which led to incomplete working. In these moments, learning momentum stalled and key feedback opportunities were lost.

Recent Achievements

One Stoneville tutor recently saw a Year 10 student who used to avoid asking for help with algebra now openly request clarification when stuck, which led her to correctly simplify expressions involving negative numbers by the end of the session.

A Year 8 student, who previously hesitated to attempt probability questions independently, managed to construct and explain a full tree diagram on her own after some guided practice.

Meanwhile, a Year 3 learner who struggled with writing out sentences began using spare time to compose short stories and practice new spelling words without prompting from the tutor or parents.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I came to work with Ezymaths because I knew I would get a wide range of students to tutor, which would undoubtedly improve my tutoring skill as well as communications skills (dealing with students and parents). The biggest accomplishment would be when my student's mark improved significantly and she moved up to the upper maths class in the next semester. I felt very proud of my students when they remembered the skills I taught them last week and used those skills to complete their homework and also to apply to other similar questions. The CEPs and various resources were useful. Thank you for your support for the past year!

I came to Ezy Math to get a job that I would be able to gain a range of skills from while working in my own time, which turned out great as I was able to work with clients around my own schedule. I've been quite happy with the results of my tutoring, I had a student who was getting a 'C' on average up to the top of the class with consistent 'A's. It's really great seeing the work you do affect others and when you do a good job, it really shows. I would recommend Ezy Math Tutoring to other prospective tutors, I never encountered a single problem with them and if I ever needed information, resources or help, they were always able to provide it to me. I would also recommend Ezy Math Tutoring to clients as having Ezy Math as a support structure definitely makes the work easier.

Laura has definitely gotten Diana to a great start. She eagerly anticipates her tutoring  and is seeming to take more  interest in Maths especially in the strands that she did not feel very confident about. Diana has told me that Laura's  explanations are easily understood and is simplified which makes it easy to remember. She also explains various strategies that can be used for problem solving which is good for time management when attempting to solve problems in class. Diana is able to use the notes taken during tutoring in class which is assisting with her understanding of the relevant strand or concept.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Mundaring Public Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Mundaring Primary School.
