Biology Tutor Cottles Bridge, VIC
I believe tutor's are there to be there, to encourage, listen, provide support and then work with the student to implement strategies to achieve small goals and so their studies become more of an individual and personal journey. I am completely reliable and have a strong work ethic as well as passion for learning and passing on…

Local Reviews

Thanks so much for Jenny’s wonderful help this year. She is a fantastic tutor who has gone beyond what we hoped and helped Gabrielle greatly. Very professional and patient and knowledgeable.

Inside StrathewenTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 12 student Alex focused on integration techniques and applied both integration and differentiation to solve real-world problems.

In Year 11, Sarah worked through binomial distributions and conditional probability using practice questions to solidify her understanding of discrete random variables.

Meanwhile, Year 7 student Vikram strengthened his skills in adding and subtracting decimals and fractions, with extra time spent multiplying decimals for fluency.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 student often relied on the CAS calculator for algebra and trigonometry tasks, but "separating characters on the CAS calculator... caused incorrect answers," highlighting how over-reliance led to avoidable errors rather than clarifying solutions.

In Year 8, one student arrived without key class materials, limiting their ability to work through probability problems or complete assigned exercises.

Another senior student skipped writing out steps in equations—trying to solve everything mentally—which made it difficult to spot arithmetic mistakes and left their reasoning unclear when revising.

After a rushed test, a Year 10 student recognised his own mistakes but ran out of time to correct them.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Strathewen noticed a Year 11 student who had previously hesitated with abstract problems now methodically breaks down simultaneous equations, even choosing efficient strategies for splitting objects when tackling surface area questions.

Another high school student, initially unsure about factorisation patterns, began recognising them independently by the end of the lesson and could confidently apply common methods to simple equations without prompting.

Meanwhile, a Year 6 student who used to stay quiet about challenges now actively communicates what she finds tricky and even shares her own approaches to problem-solving.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Kinglake Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Strathewen Primary School.
