The most important thing a physics tutor can do for a student is to understand them as much as you can. It is important to note that some of the students are seeking help from tutors since they have difficulties understanding some aspects of their lessons. For that reason, patience is very important and not let the student feel that they are a…

Besides the standard (delivering content, explaining concepts etc) I believe the absolute most important thing a physics tutor can do for a student is provide 2 things. Self belief, and learning indepedence. I see the standard delivery of education as a given for any tutoring oppurtunity. However, going beyond and empowering a student with…

I think the most important things that a physics tutor can offer a student is motivation and inspiration that can help the students to recognise their potentials, as well as a tutor's consistency and patience can also help the students to reach their goals and targets. A tutor is not only a teacher, but also a friend with mental support that…

I think the most important thing that a physics tutor can do for a student is to have them gain confidence with themselves in terms of excelling in school. I think this confidence is important in not just getting high marks in quizzes and tests, but I believe that being confident will help them long-term in solving problems not just in school,…

The most important thing a physics tutor can do for a student is aid them in being confident enough to always attempt a problem. A great tutor helps a student to put aside the "oh no, I don't know what to do" thought or feeling and and least try to break the problem into something they do know how to do. My strengths as a tutor come in my genuine…

I believe the most important thing a physics tutor can do is help the student understand a topic. This may sound intuitive however it is often majorly overlooked and replaced with acceptance or shear memorisation for the student. What I want is for my students is a true understanding of the subject, giving them the tools of learning so that they…

Inside StrathfieldTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Jacob focused on advanced algebra, tackling worded problems ahead of class pace in maths and developing time-pressured writing and editing skills in English, including analysing text structure.

For Year 9, Amanda worked intensively on exam revision, targeting earlier-term maths topics for reinforcement and creating essays in English as part of her exam preparation.

Meanwhile, Year 5 student Lily reviewed key numeracy concepts for NAPLAN by practising division and multiplication questions using sample test materials.

Recent Challenges

In Year 9 English, Jacob struggled to translate strong verbal analysis into structured writing—his ability to discuss as proof of him being able to correctly form reasoning, however his confidence when it comes to writing heavily restricts this reasoning.

In mathematics (Year 8), a reluctance to consistently write working led to errors in algebra and worded problems; he often defaulted to solving mentally, which became overwhelming on harder questions.

For HSC Biology, one student included unnecessary details in short answers and missed key terminology, making it difficult for them to link concepts under exam pressure.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Strathfield recently saw Jacob, a Year 8 student, move from avoiding written working-out to actively using it—now he tackles multi-step algebra and quadratic questions much faster than before.

In senior science, Luke showed new initiative by completing practice exam papers on his own without prompting, something he hesitated to do earlier in the term.

Meanwhile, younger student Burla made a noticeable shift in problem-solving: after initially needing lots of help with time word questions, she now reads them independently and selects the correct operation herself before asking for feedback.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

We have got off to a great start with Devina.  Aiden has really enjoyed the sessions so far and finds Devina explains everything extremely well, actually much better than his teacher at school.  We are making really good progress and even after such a short time Aiden has gained so much more confidence with his maths,  so many thanks for sending her our way.

Timothy is very happy with how things are going with Jerome.  Tim feels like he is learning and is comfortable with Jerome who I have found to be a very polite young man.  Tim has not had any tests or exams since he began tutoring, I'm sure we will see an improvement at that time.

Hi Erica, everything good so far. Isaac is lovely and Adam appears to be relating well to him. He has had 2 recent Math tests and has seemed more relaxed about them so I think we're seeing some short term gains already.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Burwood Library and Community Hub—or at your child's school (with permission), like Santa Sabina College, Santa Maria del Monte.
