I always create a safe, respectful learning space where my students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I can instil good study habits where my students become independent learners. I aim to help my students to understand, not memorise, so they grasp concepts and apply them independently. I am friendly and easy to get along…

For me, the teachers that have had the most impact are the ones that were more of a role model figure rather than an authoritative figure. So i belive being patient with students and allowing them to feel comfortable and learn at their own pace is the best thing a tutor can do for their student. Comprehensive understanding of the subject. I am…

The most important thing that a tutor can do for a student is to impart values and lessons not only limited to the school syllabus, but those that impart a general, holistic all-round development of the student. My strength as a tutor is to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the student, and accordingly guide them empathetically through…

Motivate / Inspire - Without motivation, even brilliant students don't succeed. I was always a bright student but I was never motivated to do more until I met this chemistry teacher in my 11th grade. He not only inspired us, he taught different ways to approach studying and learning, he helped us choose a career path that would best suit us and…

A tutor is more than just one that imparts knowledge. Any textbook, podcast or Youtube Video can do that. The power of a good tutor is in his or her ability to strengthen and encourage their students, so helping them gain some momentum to keep persevering in subjects that are challenging them. Everyone has a unique learning technique, and finding out a student's unique learning process is the most important thing a tutor can do. For me, as a student, what I sought from my tutor was discovering how I learn best, rather than adhering to a one-size-fits-all approach. I also valued having someone with whom I could freely share my thoughts without fear of judgment, essentially a friend. 1. Simplify and relate lessons to real life scenarios. 2. Tutors must have the ability to inspire the students and make them like the subject. 3. Along with the lessons tutors must build an authentic relationship with students. The more students become comfortable; it is easier for tutors to impart the concepts. 4. Tutor's must adapt to…

Danni was great and the girls were very happy with her.
Chris, Subiaco

Inside SubiacoTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 9 student Sophia worked through division of fractions and simple interest problems, then tackled introductory trigonometry with guided practice.

For Year 10, Ethan completed a review of quadratic functions and practised trig questions from Chapter 11 using diagrams to reinforce concepts.

In Year 11, Chloe focused on dividends and price-earnings ratios in financial maths, also comparing share prices with real-world examples for context.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student repeatedly avoided writing out working in algebra, which made it hard to catch sign errors—"I suggested she write each step," the tutor noted.

In Year 12 Chemistry, one student struggled with organizing notes and remembering formulas without looking them up, so tests were planned at lesson start to check recall.

A tired Year 9 learner lost focus during revision and gave up on multi-step problems; snack breaks helped regain attention but progress slowed.

Another senior English student skipped practicing timed essays and left homework incomplete, leading to repeated pauses when structuring arguments under pressure.

Recent Achievements

One Subiaco tutor noticed a Year 10 student who, after weeks of hesitating to ask for help, started speaking up mid-lesson when she got stuck—making it much easier to clarify tricky algebra steps together.

A Year 12 student who previously mixed up integration techniques is now confidently choosing the right method and can sketch derivatives without prompting, showing real independence in her calculus work.

In a recent session with a Year 4 student, the tutor observed that he's begun using the number line unprompted for negative integers and managed several challenging questions solo by the end of their lesson.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Subiaco Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Subiaco Primary School.
