I believe the most important things a tutor can do for any student is teaching them the complicated thought processes and workings required to come to the right conclusion in any given situation or assessment, not just the conclusion itself. I believe my strengths as a tutor are my people skills and ability to connect and relate with my students,…

I believe patience, resilience, and the ability to think fast to generate alternate ways to regain the student's focus, particularly if they are on the younger side. Aside from paying attention to the student's attention span, more importantly, a tutor should be prepared on going about different routes to ensure understanding of course content and…

Inside SumnerTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 10 student Lucas tackled binomial probability and discrete random variables, focusing on applications to real-world scenarios and confidence intervals.

For Year 11, Emma practiced integration by substitution and solved problems involving probability density functions, including finding the equation of a function and calculating probabilities.

Meanwhile, Year 12 student Alex worked through differentiation of natural logarithms using the chain rule and applied the log change of base formula while rearranging exponential equations for assignments.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student was asked to write out every calculation but often defaulted to mental maths—"needs to not do it in his head"—which led to missing steps, especially in algebra.

In Year 11 Chemistry, homework was left incomplete, making it difficult to reinforce new concepts like distinguishing alcohols from carboxylic acids or correctly drawing esters.

One Year 12 Maths student struggled with organizing written work for problem-solving tasks; as a tutor noted, "needs to improve communication and setting out of certain questions (chain rule)," which resulted in unclear justifications during test reviews and lost marks on multi-step solutions.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Sumner noticed a Year 11 student who previously hesitated to correct her mistakes now actively reviews her working and pinpoints where she's gone wrong, particularly during binomial probability tasks.

In another session, a Year 9 student who struggled with setting up diagrams for trigonometry questions began drawing them independently, which let him tackle worded problems with less prompting.

Meanwhile, a Year 7 student has moved from guessing ratios to confidently dividing by 10, 100, and 1000 and checking his answers before moving on—he finished all the practice division problems without needing hints.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

We chose EzyMath Tutoring as that is the subject our daughter  most needed help with, and we decided to pick specialists in this subject over other tutors who seemed to do everything.  Our tutor Emma, was a uni student, very professional, friendly, she worked very well with our daughter.  Emma had lots of great tricks and tips for Madison to use in her studying and test-taking, broke some things down so they didn't seem so scary or overwhelming to our daughter.  Madison was much more confident in math class, homework was easier, she was more confident in taking exams.  It meant a lot to Madison and us, a lot less stress at home when it wasn't my husband or I trying to teach her with all the emotions that tend to go along with that.  I would recommend EzyMath tutoring to anyone looking to improve their math skills.

Thanks for the follow up.  Yes I am very happy with Sean, he has worked with Machlin through some difficult times and nothing has been a problem for Sean.

Thanks for asking So far so good Michael is great. Kane seems to be quite happy
