PDHPE Tutor Buttaba, NSW
I think fostering curiosity and confidence are the most important things a tutor can do for a student. Technical knowledge is obviously extremely important, however, I think building solid study foundations is something a student will carry with them for the rest of their lives. As a current university student, I understand the frustration that…

Inside SwanseaTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Claudia worked on addition with larger numbers using the split strategy and began subtracting tens from triple-digit numbers.

Year 7 student Nina focused on multiplying and adding fractions, as well as consolidating her times tables recall through regular testing.

In Year 8, Leonardo practiced calculating multiplication equations with hundreds and tens place value (such as 345 × 23) and completed a creative writing task to develop his English skills.

Recent Challenges

In Year 9 mathematics, one student often avoided showing written steps for algebraic working—she skipped steps when simplifying equations, which hid small sign errors, a tutor observed.

In Year 11 creative writing, another student struggled to organise ideas on paper, despite being able to discuss them fluently; messy layout and unclear handwriting made it hard to review or edit work.

In Year 4 maths, incomplete homework meant extra time was spent revisiting missed times tables practice in the next session instead of progressing.

These patterns led to repeated confusion or lost marks that could have been prevented with clearer processes.

Recent Achievements

One Swansea tutor recently saw a Year 8 student move from hesitating with linear equations to solving more complicated ones independently, applying her school and tutoring skills without prompting.

Another high schooler in Year 9, who used to avoid asking for help when stuck on perimeter and area questions, now actively pinpoints where she made mistakes and works through corrections confidently.

Meanwhile, a younger student surprised her tutor by switching from counting on fingers to doing all addition problems mentally—a big leap in independence since earlier sessions.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Tahlia and Jonah are getting along very well so far and Tahlia appears to be taking on board the information that Jonah is giving her. Tahlia is enjoying her tutoring sessions and it doesn't feel like an hour to her.

Dorcas is a very patient tutor, she has lots of experience and is good with children. She is willing to go the extra mile and my son has been improving under her guidance.

I would like to say how impressed we were with El-Abed. You provide a really useful support service.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Swansea Library, kariyawangba—or at your child's school (with permission), like Swansea Public School.
