There are a lot of qualities that go into being a good tutor. I believe some of the most important skills for the field is patience and communication. As I am working with students and their respective area of difficulty in learning, it is important and a priority for myself to approach any circumstances with patience at all times. This is an…

Improve their self esteem by helping them do better at school. I think the student being tutored is the most important person, so you want to help them and improve their skills as much as possible. Strengths are listening, honesty, cheerfulness, calmness, communication Weaknesses: I'm probably a bit on the softer side, a bit too…

The most important thing a tutor can do for their student is teach them in the way the they best understand. This makes the fundamental process of learning easier from square one creating more time to learn to solve more difficult problems. My strength main strength ass a tutor is helping students break down and understand what the question is…

Inside TingalpaTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 11 student Lily practiced solving exponential and logarithmic equations, including population worded problems and graphing transformations of log and cubic functions.

Year 12 student Ethan focused on matrix operations such as addition, scalar multiplication, and solving systems of equations using matrices, plus compound interest calculations with real-life examples.

For Year 10, Olivia worked through arithmetic and geometric sequences—finding sums, evaluating terms from tables, and tackling worded questions linking sequences to everyday contexts.

Recent Challenges

Several students across Years 7–12 showed challenges transforming worded problems into mathematical form.

For example, a Year 9 student "became confused when extracting pertinent information from questions," only finding clarity after drawing a diagram.

In Year 11, one student hesitated to commit to answers, often voicing solutions as questions—this uncertainty slowed progress in algebra and trig proofs.

Another senior struggled with organization: "Needs textbook, homework, and worksheets ready for each session," leading to lost time searching for materials instead of working on advanced calculus tasks.

A younger student avoided recording working during problem-solving, which hid where misunderstandings occurred and made feedback less effective.

Recent Achievements

A Tingalpa tutor recently noticed a Year 11 student who used to freeze up at complex log problems now tackles multi-step equations without a calculator, even pointing out when the change of base rule saves time.

Another high schooler who was previously hesitant to ask for help in trigonometry is now comfortable voicing confusion right away, leading to clearer understanding of ambiguous cases in trig equations.

Meanwhile, a Year 5 student who struggled with multiplication tables has started multiplying by powers of ten and confidently uses strategies for tackling the 12-times table, finishing all practice questions independently this week.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

We very happy with tutor Sean. He is a very good tutor. Melissa is happy Sean is her tutor.

I am very impressed with Nikki and the way in which your company operates. Emily had a session with Nikki on Monday in preparation for her algebra topic test on Tuesday and she received 72%!! She would normally get in the 40s for this type of test maybe less for algebra. We are reaping the rewards of Nikki's tutoring already. Very pleased indeed and Nikki is also a great role model for Emily in the way she presents herself and her attitude to life in general. Thank you for your exceptional service.

Peilin is fantastic! They get along extremely well and Peilin is very encouraging.
