English Tutor North Toowoomba, QLD
Listening carefully comes first. All other things can follow from listening. From listening I can understand their vocabulary, grammar level, sense of language and so forth. After this, I can firstly adapt my language to them and then secondly, design specific exercises to take students into better habits so that they can express themselves as…

A tutor can help a student develop the necessary skills,by which he can learn and understand by himself. Also, he can help identify the students weaknesses and provide alternatives by which the student can easily learn. I have patience and understanding. I also have excellent writing skills. Moreover, I like challenges and I love it when I can…

Allow students to build on previous knowledge and expand their knowledge in a fun way. I believe an english tutor can scaffold learning for the student so that they can gain confidence from incremental learning tasks. Patience and I am able to adapt to any student's learning style. Also I am able to prepare learning experiences to match the…

English Tutor Drayton, QLD
The most important things an english tutor can do for a student is to teach and help them to learn. The tutor should help the student develop their own skills by setting a good example. I have lots of patience when it comes to teaching. I never stop until the students got what the topic is all…

Inside ToowoombaTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Emily practised mean, median, and mode calculations and interpreted box plots to understand data spreads.

In Year 11, Tom tackled balancing redox reactions in Chemistry—focusing on electron transfer—and explored natural logarithms in Maths Methods.

Meanwhile, Year 12 student Bonnie worked through financial maths topics including annuities and compound interest, as well as applying network theory concepts using example problems from past exams.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11 Chemistry, confusion arose over integrating experimental data with theory; a tutor noted, "experimental results didn't fit expectations, making it hard to explain why."

In senior Maths Methods, one student needed repeated reminders to organize working—skipped steps led to mistakes in integration and binomial expansion.

Another Year 9 learner often left homework incomplete and brought disorganized notes, so lesson time was spent hunting for missing materials instead of problem-solving.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 student's tendency to avoid practicing multiplication tables meant they relied on memory tricks rather than mastering basic calculation skills when faced with word problems.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Toowoomba noticed that a Year 12 student who previously struggled with laying out maths assignments now organises his responses systematically and can justify his conclusions clearly—something he hesitated to do before.

Another high school student, after finding induction examples confusing at first, began independently identifying inconsistencies in data and adjusted answers accordingly rather than defaulting to the textbook.

In primary, one student who often got distracted is now finishing her homework on time and has become much quicker at recalling multiplication tables; last session she completed every set without needing reminders.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Thomas got 83% in each of his 2 Maths exams in the last week, (he went from 97 % to 50 % which made us think of tutoring) but for me its not the mark , it's the fact that he is happy and confident and really looking forward to his tutor time. It has done such a lot for his confidence Big thanks to Gabrielle!

We are all very happy with Rebecca. Myself, my husband and especially Grace, which is wonderful. Rebecca and Grace's school teacher have spoken via email and are working together. I think it is too early to see any real progress, as you said we would expect to see a difference in the next couple of months. But for now we are glad Grace is getting the help she needs while enjoying the company of Rebecca.

Mitch has been so wonderful with Nick and is doing an amazing job tutoring Nick, especially getting Nick focused on completing his maths homework. He has worked with Nick so well and has established a great working relationship with him. His patient demeanor is certainly a strong attribute and has made tutoring for Nick so much easier.  Nick has commented several times that 'he has learnt more with Mitch today than he has all week with his teacher'.

Local Spots for Tutoring
