The most important thing is that the teacher makes the student realize the importance of learning all these things and how they could apply it to their real life. I think my strengths is that i see teaching as a performance rather than just a boring classroom setting. I believe that keeping the student engaged in the experience is crucial to…

While imparting knowledge is expected from a tutor, a good tutor should be able to inspire and motivate the student to learn the subject and apply themselves better. Communication Skills - I believe I can clearly articulate to students complex concepts in a manner that students can relate to and as a result help them learn better Understanding of…

Problem-solving. Patient. Understand the person in front of you so that you can solve his/her problem. Be the best friend and try to give the answer to every query of the student. Tutoring others make me feel more confident and I can elaborate on concepts such that students will understand it easily. Get to know and learn more…

I think tutors have to have the appropriate amount of empathy to understand, not only the way they learn, but also their reason for learning. Best thing tutor can do is align his values with his student's. I think this is a way to frustrate and alienate him. I can approach a problem the way student does. This gives me an insight into where they…

The most important thing i can do for a student is to be the students' friend not tutor. This can by achieved by initiating and having a talk with them to understand how do they think and react to different situations. This usually makes a student more comfortable and life-loving. Raising up the student spirits and confidence about himself and…

In my personal opinion besides teaching a student what is in the unit/study guide, a tutor should be taking responsibility in creating a fun learning environment and encouraging and motivating the students to be confident. This would help to enhance the students performance. The strength I have as an individual is I am able to create a comfortable…

I think the most important things that a tutor can do is to instil in students the drive to learn more about a subject, fix any misconceptions they may have, and to make them feel comfortable enough to ask any questions they have. I think my strengths come from finding gaps in a student’s knowledge and using appropriate measures to rectify them.…

A tutor plays very important role in a student's life. A tutor can not only help the child in his or her academics but also help the student in grooming their personality and building the confidence to tackle the problems around As a tutor I am very flexible with my method of teaching. I don't restrict myself to one way of teaching. I believe…

The most important things that one can do for a student is make the learning material relatable to them. Which means that giving real world examples and relating the material to something of importance. I have been a student for most of my life, so I relate a lot to the students needs and how to help them in learning. This I think is my greatest…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is help them feel confident enough in themselves and their abilities to succeed. A tutor should not simply give the answers to their students, but do what they can to provide the support for the students to reach the correct answers themselves. Help them gain confidence, and for them to do the best they can. Students that require tutoring are often ones that lack confidence in a subject area. Inside TravancoreTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Max focused on multiplying and dividing mixed numbers, converting between improper fractions and decimals, and practised placing decimal points accurately during operations.

In Year 8, Lola tackled triangle side length and angle problems using trigonometric formulae like arcsin, as well as analysing literary themes and preparing essay arguments for her assessment on Brave New World.

Meanwhile, Year 9 student Max reviewed substitution into graph formulae, worked through coordinate geometry questions involving negative number laws and exponentials, and reinforced his understanding by reading textbook problems aloud.

Recent Challenges

In Year 8 Maths, one student often skipped back-checking their work on fractions and division, leading to repeated errors—he tries to add and subtract denominators, as he always forgets to first find a common denominator.

In VCE Chemistry, exam revision was left until the last minute, causing stress and limited time for consolidation.

Meanwhile, in Year 10 English, another student hesitated to express opinions in essays and defaulted to quoting texts instead of expanding on their own ideas. This pattern resulted in less developed arguments during class discussions and slower essay planning under time pressure.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Travancore noticed Violet, a senior student, has started coming to each session with her own targeted questions and is now quick to ask for clarification when she's unsure—something she hesitated to do before.

In Year 9 maths, Max showed new independence by reading content himself first and diving straight into homework without prompting, which made the lesson more productive than usual.

For a younger student, Matthew breezed through a reading comprehension task that used to slow him down, showing how his practice is making these activities much smoother.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Flemington Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Flemington Primary School.
