Inside TregearTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 3 student Sidney focused on reading and writing three-digit numbers, skip counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s using charts and counters, and practiced comparing Australian coins to make exact amounts in simulated shop scenarios.

In Year 8, Jayden worked through simplifying algebraic expressions—covering like terms, expanding brackets, and dividing equations—while also tackling problems involving addition and subtraction of algebraic equations.

Meanwhile, Year 9 student Maya applied the substitution method to solve simultaneous equations and tackled geometry skills such as finding the circumference of circles from given radius or diameter values.

Recent Challenges

A Year 3 student showed eagerness to complete maths worksheets but sometimes rushed through tasks, missing key details in questions—such as confusing which hand represents minutes on the clock or not switching strategies when moving from counting by ones to tens.

As one tutor observed, "she didn't always answer it the way the question wanted."

In Year 10 algebra, another student struggled to organize working steps for substitution and formula use, often jumping ahead without consolidating fundamentals. This led to errors that took extra time to untangle during revision and left him less confident during tests.

Recent Achievements

One Tregear tutor recently noticed a big shift with a Year 11 student who, after weeks of hesitating to try problems alone, now works through complex algebraic equations without relying on the tutor for every step.

Another high schooler, previously making errors when rushing negative numbers and non-linear relationships, is starting to pause and check his work—he even finished his classwork on time this week.

In primary, Sidney made a leap by counting off decades independently after struggling at first; she quickly spotted number patterns many miss and zipped through her practice sheets unaided.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I chose to work as a tutor with EzyMath whilst completing my university studies in order to gain valuable work experience and to also help others within mathematics which I have a strong passion for. I have only positive experiences with EzyMath Tutoring through their on-going support when starting out as a tutor, the continuous learning provided through their tutoring modules and online resources and the process they use when contacting a client. My biggest accomplishment whilst working as a tutor with EzyMath was seeing students improve immensely in there grades and also being able to assist the students with their own personal goals in regards to mathematics. Personally whilst working as a tutor I became more confident, organised, patient and developed the ability to explain complex concepts using easy-to-understand terms. EzyMath Tutoring is a fantastic organisation to work with and for students who are struggling within maths to become a part of.

So far we are happy with Stella Ananya is feeling more comfortable With her every week. Stella has been able to help her with general homework questions as well so that's fantastic for us.

Josh is great, Jaxon really likes him and they get along really well. Very happy with him in all aspects so thank you.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Mt Druitt Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Tregear Public School.
