What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I thoroughly enjoy teaching students, providing support throughout their learning journey, and, most importantly, witnessing their enjoyment. An example of this is the 'rocket challenge' I conducted with two Year Six classrooms (60 students) in person at a local primary school, as part of Engineering New Zealand's Wonder Project. I taught them the fundamentals of rocket design and basic physics, as well as carrying out practical sessions where they launched their own rockets. The experience was incredibly rewarding as I observed the students' excitement and eagerness to learn each week.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I have a background in civil engineering and have been working as a civil engineer for the last four years. Prior to that, I studied engineering at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand. Consequently, I have a solid understanding of mathematics, physics, and engineering studies. Working with students in the past, I have found it crucial to be patient, as learning is a gradual process that takes time to develop. I believe I can effectively communicate ideas clearly and in a simple and effective manner.

I think it is important to teach the fundamentals so that students have a clear understanding of the basic concepts. I believe it is also important to clearly communicate ideas so that they can then communicate them clearly themselves. Moreover, it is crucial to encourage students to think critically by giving them the opportunity to independently think and develop problem-solving skills. I believe it is very important to encourage students to ask as many questions as possible. It is also important to keep the students engaged throughout the learning process.
