What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy helping people and seeing an individual students' confidence and belief in themselves grow. I feel that this is the most rewarding aspect of tutoring. I also wish to end the stigma that maths is boring, though helping students understand and work through problems. The progress and growth is so inspiring and I love to help where I can.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I believe that I am an excellent listener and have the ability to communicate effectively with others. This allows me to comprehend what each student needs and as a result how I can best help them. I also understand individuality, in that not all teaching techniques work for all students .Maths has always been a passion of mine and I wish to instil this love of numbers and learning onto my students.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
In my opinion, a tutor is someone whose aim is to help a student in all the ways they can. They not only provide academic support through tutorials, guide practices questions and reviews but also possibly even more importantly, give the student the confidence to believe in themselves. This is done through nurturing a safe and judgement free environment where the student can make mistakes and grow and improve in the process. Overall I believe that growth and confidence are the most important things.

We worked through word problems and extension mixed geometry questions, which overall went well. She is still very charismatic and I can tell she is putting in 100% which is amazing!
Leila struggles more with word problems, which is completely normal as there is more work in having to either draw a diagram or come up with a formula to understand the question. This is where some more work is needed, this will take time.

When working through the practice exam, she was implementing all the skills we have been working on over the past few weeks. This includes making sure to always read the question, write out the formula given as is, and backcheck along the way.
Leila is beginning to feel more comfortable saying she doesn't understand something, but I do believe we can push further and have her begin to ask more specific questions about the work.

We worked through a lot today and Leila seemed to handle it well, taking on corrections and fixing them for future questions. She also did a good job at attempting the majority of the questions on the homework test I gave her.
Once again, Leila just needs more practice in algebra and percentages as sometimes she gets confused as to which rule she should abide by or which formula she should use etc. For example, when solving equations, she struggles when dividing, always wanting to subtract the numeral instead of multiply, even though the inverse of division is multiplication.

Overall, I can tell the content is in there, sometimes it takes a minute to reach an answer, which is completely fine. Leila never gives up or gets frustrated which should be commended.
I wish to work more again on Leila's book work, not a major issue in any sense, but it becomes much easier to follow and keep track when working through questions.
