What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
What I enjoy most about tutoring is that feeling of great satisfaction you get when a student finally understands a topic they have been struggling on for a while. There\'s nothing more gratifying than witnessing a student, who initially didn\'t even know where to begin a problem, tackle that same problem unassisted.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
My strengths lie in my capacity to adapt and learn on the spot when confronted with unfamiliar topics. Additionally, I excel in employing effective teaching strategies, such as Socratic questioning and metacognition, to guide students through challenging subjects with thorough understanding.
Most important things I can do for a student π
The most crucial role of a tutor is to assist students in acquiring the ability to develop their own problem-solving skills. This empowers them to independently navigate through challenges without the ongoing need for external guidance, as they develop the necessary skills to tackle problems on their own.

Moving forward, I believe what would benefit her most is a brief review of the current test topic to ensure she understands it, followed by moving on to future topics to give her a head start and build confidence. I noticed that she likes to work alone and is hesitant to ask for help, which makes it challenging for me to know when she is unsure of something. However, asking her to walk me through her thought process step by step has worked great to address this most of the time.

As for most people he struggles to carry the basic concepts over to more complex word problems that require a deeper level of thinking than just numbers. The best practice for him would just be creating diagrams based on word problems and thinking about how he would solve them rather than actually doing the math so he can get a good feel for what he needs to do.

Foil method is still new information so it will take some practice to be test ready. Only at a surface level understanding of exponents but for now that is all that is needed to succeed on the test. Some trouble remembering past topics like negative multiplication rules.

Built more confidence for the baseline of algebra by consistently being able to solve for single variables. After a quick refresher he was able to remember how to add and subtract fractions (first taught in 1st and 2nd week).
Having trouble understanding when to use the distributive property and how to use it correctly. Also struggling to grasp the concept of larger denominator fractions being made up of smaller pieces when compared to smaller denominator fractions.
