Nelly is a fast learner and once she understands how to do the question, she can solve similar questions quite quickly. If she has trouble she will ask which is extremely good and it contributes to an effective learning session. Initially, she had trouble understanding highest common factors and how to simplify the equations but she was able to learn and understand how to answer these questions with both integers and algebra by dividing both top and bottom by the highest common factors. She was then able to easily understand what factors are and how to factorise and subsequently expand algebraic equations and she was able to work through various different algebraic techniques.
Nelly has trouble with reading her own writing sometimes so she gets confused with 'p' and 'q' or 'x' and '+'. It would help her make less mistakes if she writes those characters more unique or clear. When she focuses on multiplying or adding the coefficients, she tends to forget the algebraic character in her answer as well as the negative sign (-) for negative integers. Although it is okay, it would be more efficient for her if she remembers the simple factors of 1-12 so that she can work through the questions faster and she wouldn't need to constantly use her calculator. Nelly should also be more confident in her answers as she likes to confirm and check her answers with me even though they are correct.

Kush is able to easily solve 0 and 1 timetable questions but does like to confirm his answers. He understands the different operations and makes a good effort in solving the addition, subtraction and multiplication questions. He also did a good job in filling out what operation reaches the answer for the sample questions. He likes and is more interested in challenging word questions such as allocating 25g to oranges and 10g to apples. Due to that, we were able to work through double digit addition and showed him that 3 oranges is equivalent to 3 x one orange. Kush is improving in his listening and makes a good effort in spelling by spelling new words out through slowly speaking and sounding them out. Kush's grammar and handwriting skills have also improved.
Kush is able to easily solve 0 and 1 timetable questions but does like to confirm his answers either through asking or checking his previous work. He still tends to lack confidence in his answers which needs inprovement. Kush's skills in addition is improving but continues to find addition and subtraction to 10s challenging and it would be good if he continues practicing these questions. However, when he loses interest, he tries to guess the answer or looks at previous questions to look for the answer. He should practice more frequently so that he understands how to work through the questions and would not need to check previous answers. Kush needs to try not looking at his previous work to spell words out. He should practice and remember the spelling through writing sentences and and reading books.

His homework on addition and multiplication was completed and correct. While this was Kush's first subtraction lesson, he was able to quickly solve simple subtraction questions visually with the help of square boxes. When going through the mini test, Kush was easily able to solve addition and multiplication of 0s and 1s but always confirms the answer with me. He also has trouble with solving questions associated with the bigger 1 digit numbers. Kush makes a really good effort in sounding out and spelling the words. He understands what each word means and will always have a go at spelling it. Kush is really creative and comes up with interesting sentences. He is confident in his sentences and his spelling is significantly improving. He is also slowly correcting and getting in the habit of not using capitals randomly in his sentences.
Although Kush has gotten much faster at solving addition questions, he still struggles and lacks confidence in his answers. He also asks whether the answer is correct and tries to check the 2 time tables in the multiplication cheat sheet that I had provided. Often he would start guessing the answer and wait until I tell him that it is correct. However, because I don't tell him, he loses focus and starts talking about another topic. When going through the mini test that I had created, Kush was struggling quite a bit with (6+4) and (7+3) even though he had completed it for homework. He did get help in his homework but it would be good if he continues to practice these questions more by himself so that he can remember and understand how they add up to 10. Kush struggles a bit when solving subtraction questions when they are written in a line, so it would be good if he does more visual learning to help him visualise what the question is asking. Kush has many interests and wants to write about a range of things including geography and sunflowers however, he should focus more on the fundamentals first before hopping into topics that he enjoys. Reading long paragraphs on things that he is not interested in bores him and makes him lose focus quickly. It would be good for him to read a couple of random short passages/books and slowly move to longer ones.

Kush is able to quickly solve multiplication of 0s, 1s but struggles when multiplying by. twos when out of order. His addition is much faster than before and is also slowly understanding addition with multiple digits. He was successfully able to do questions that consisted of mixed operations and is improving quite fast. Kush always has something planned to talk about during the lesson and is extremely good at coming up with sentences and pronouncing words. His interest in these topics keep him motivated throughout the lesson and is a great initiative for keeping a creative mindset. He is also great at spelling and remembers the words that we learnt last lesson.
Kush lacks confidence in his answers and needs confirmation on whether the answer he got is correct or not. More practice with solving math questions can help him remember and improve with more challenging questions. It would be good if he does more harder addition questions for homework to help him improve his math skills. Kush wishes to write more and always will have something he wants to talk about for the lesson. This is good as it helps him stay motivated for the entire session but he might miss some of the fundamentals such as longer comprehension readings and grammar. Kush struggles to keep focus when reading long passages, we tried starting on the textbook comprehension readings but he was not interested about the topic. It would be good if he can start maybe reading books or short novels that he likes. This way, it can help him improve on his attention span, his sentence structure as well as spelling and grammar.
