What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
Do not have tutoring experience but teaching others seems like something I would enjoy. Mostly just sharing knowledge and helping others succeed.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
Mostly my knowledge. Besides that, I also prefer to (at least in my mind) adapt to the student's learning style and try to improve in their way.
In terms of knowledge (using ATAR as baseline):
Maths - I did Methods decently.
Information Technology - I got second in state
Software Design/Development - Assuming its coding, I have good knowledge on its core basics, I can use Python, C, Java
Most important things I can do for a student π
- Preparation is important and planning for what to do in the lessons is important, shows care in a way
- Tackle weak points - teaching new content is fine, but I think it is good to follow the pace of the student
- Freedom and space of the student, give them the room to think and explore

He has grasped percentages better, and some concepts of decimals. Learning how to identify if a number is divisible by 7s, 9s, etc (weak numbers). His algebra skills seems to be his strongest.
Needs to be able to look at fraction operations and be able to solve them more confidently, still a lot of errors currently. HIs general arithmetics is still somewhat weak, needs to improve his 7s and 9s especially.

We went through everything again. His algebra skills are quite good overall using the guessing method. He can grasp the percentage idea well, and sort of the decimal too. He seems to have more confidence in fractions operations now.
Needs to remember to not multiply numerator and denominator by each other. Overall more fractions practice. Also, differentiating techniques between plus/minus and multiply/divide. Needs more practice with fractions overall. Percentage - needs practice to get more confident. Decimals, needs more practice to understand the idea and concept. Algebra - understanding like terms more and how to collect them. Also, times tables with seven and nine especially are weak.

Fergus was quite proactive in answering questions. Had more confidence in answering stuff in fractions, generally seems to be able to use techniques better to solve questions. Algebra terminology, he mostly seems fine with it. Algebra concepts come easier to Fergus, it seems.
Needs to enhance his seven times tables especially. But also other times tables, needs more confidence to answer them without too much waiting time. His general factor skills needs improvement. Haven't really touched percentage and decimal, but definitely needs to understand these concepts.

Fergus had more input and engagement this lesson. He grasped the concept for fractions well. Algebra wise, while he may mix up certain part sometimes, he can solve them, and is quite good at bigger numbers at times. He did really well for the problem-solving ones, although with slight guidance.
Needs to work on revision and retain knowledge enough for next week's test. It really all depends if he puts in the effort as I've shown him what to practice. He needs to work on number lines, factor based questions, terminologies, graphing, more fraction operation practice, and a bit of structure with working out.
