What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy seeing the kids I mentor understand a topic that they previously struggled to make sense of. Sometimes, just breaking down a big topic into smaller chunks and explaining a complex subject in simple terms makes a massive difference and helps someone understand something a lot better. Seeing this process in the kids I mentor would be very fulfilling.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
Having graduated high school recently, I still remember how stressful school was and so I can empathise greatly with my students. Additionally, being a third-year medical student, I have a lot of experience interacting with people from various backgrounds, making it easier to communicate with people in general. I have also been told that I am a good listener which is a crucial skill for effective teaching.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I believe the ability to be adaptable and always open to changing one's teaching methods to suit a student's learning style is key to an effective student-teacher relationship. Listening to a student and trying to work around their needs is definitely one of the most important things that can be done for a student.

Long division and complex multiplication questions seem to be becoming easier for Rose. She is slowly improving her times tables. Since she is currently doing chance and probability in school, we went over some questions which she handled with ease.
Today we reviewed the 4 times table and did a few quizzes to test her memory. I found that this helped her remember the multiples better and is something I might do with the other times tables she has difficulty with in the upcoming weeks. There was some difficulty in remembering the 7 and 8 times tables as well so we will keep working on this.
Rose is now comfortable doing equations involving multiplication and division of fractions. She also still remembers how to do long division and is good at that.

There was some confusion as to how to approach questions involving addition and subtraction of fractions but after going through different methods, Rose is now more confident with these questions. She still needs to practice her times tables as well but is definitely getting quicker as lessons progress.

We revised multiplication and division. Rose is now very good with her long division and multiplication. She is able to deal with 3 digit numbers and approaches questions systematically. Rose learnt new content well today i.e. multiplying/dividing fractions. This is a topic we will revisit in the future. We also did some prep for her test on "areas" and she managed those questions well.
Rose still needs to practice her times tables, especially 6 and onwards. This should come with more practice.
