What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy the feeling of being helpful, and being able to explain the concept to someone so that they find the answer themselves. The "Aha" moment when a student finally understands why and how they came about the conclusion, is something that I strive to achieve.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I am incredibly patient and encouraging, and I try to relate abstract information to real world applications, as I believe that it makes it easier to digest. For example, say a student doesn't quite grasp the concept of why we use Trigonometry. I would use the example of climbing a wall in rockclimbing, I know the length and hypotenuse of the wall but I would like to know how steep (the overhang) the wall is. I could use Trigonometry to calculate this! By breaking down foreign concepts into real life examples it makes more fun and the student is able to see the point of why they are learning.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Consistency, having academic guidance and building human connection are the most important things a tutor can do for a student. By consistently showing up and improving bit by bit everyday, it compounds over the learning effect and we can see how far the student has come since the start of the session. Having the academic guidance is also key, as tutors can give an added dimension to a students learning and move at the pace which the student moves, providing a personalised path for each individual.
