What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy seeing the concept that the student struggled to grasp finally getting it! It takes patience and time but eventually I get satisfaction from students getting better each week.I know that I am helping student becoming better and make them see that it isn't as daunting and can be fun too. I hope to provide guidance and support for students in times of uncertainty.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I have some experience at Shack tutoring at UNSW, where I tutor high school maths student, as well as tutoring my friends back in high school.
In my experience, in addition to the expertise of the subject matter, what I excel at is ability to explain the same concept in different ways. I try to find other materials, use visual diagrams, give example questions etc to help student understand the concept. Whether if the student is struggling or if they are advanced, I know how to cater each lesson to suit their level.
I also have plenty of resources from my own studies too.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Being a supportive friend. Whether it's assignment or exam season, or even their personal struggles, tutor should extend help and not afraid to see the student get better. Also, by being available to help outside the class such as email if the student has additional question or more homework.
I believe that studying alone can be quite isolating but just having the feeling of someone being there can encourage the student too. Sometimes even if the student studies and puts in a lot of effort they might not see the effort immediately. So they have to trust in the process, and trust the tutor.
