What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I have always had a passion for teaching whether in school, university and working as a tutor. As a student myself, I understand the stress that can come with learning and trying to understand complex concepts and ideas and it is always comforting to have someone to guide you and I want to be that supportive presence for my students. Tutoring is also a creative outlet for me - having to explain complex topics to students often reqiures me to think outside the box and use different methods and tailor my approach to each students needs.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
As a tutor, I think one of my strongest qualities is having patience. It is important to be open-minded and create a open, supportive and judgement free environment for students to openly express themselves to build their confidence and strenghten their academic abilities. Adaptability is also another quality I believe I possess. I understand that every student learns differently and I take the time to understand each students learning methods and adjust my teaching style accordingly. I am a strong believer in the fact that tutoring does not comprise a striaght cut approach.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The main responsibility of a tutor is to fill gaps in a students knowledge as opposed to picking on whats wrong. I believe that constructive feedback is the core of tutoring. However, it is also important to facilitate independent thinking in students. A combination of direct help and independent learning will give them the confidence to perform well academically regardless of the setting. Overall tutoring is not just about improving grades on paper ; It is to build confidence, understanding and faciliate a genuine love for learning and I enjoy being that presence for my students.
