What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
What I enjoy most about tutoring is the moment a student grasps something that once felt confusing to them. As a child, I really thrived off of that sense of accomplishment. Finally understanding long division or solving a tricky word problem made me feel proud and I still remember the teachers who helped me get there. Now, I get to be that person for someone else. It’s incredibly gratifying to watch a student’s confidence grow and to know I’ve helped make something click for them especially when I see that same joy and relief I used to feel.My Strengths as Tutor 💪
One of my biggest strengths as a tutor is my ability to meet students where they are. Whether I’m working with students at Kumon across different year levels or tutoring family friends’ children (some of whom have special needs), I always try to adapt my approach to their pace, learning style, and confidence level. I make an effort to understand what’s going on beneath the surface so I can better support their learning journey rather than just sticking to a one-size-fits-all method.Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I think the most important thing a tutor can do is teach clearly and patiently while also paying close attention to whether the student is actually following. Sometimes students say they understand because they’re embarrassed or unsure how to ask for help, and as a tutor, I believe it’s my job to read those signals, ask the right questions, and keep checking in.
