What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
What I enjoy most about tutoring is seeing that moment when something finally clicks. With my little sister in grade 4, I’ve had to explain things in different ways until she really gets it, and when she does, it feels rewarding for both of us. I also like being able to make learning less stressful by keeping it simple and breaking things down step by step. It’s nice to see her confidence grow, especially when she goes from saying "I don’t get this’" to being able to do it on her own.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I think one of my strengths is patience. I don’t mind going over things a few times in different ways until it makes sense. I’m also good at breaking ideas down into simple steps, which I’ve had to do a lot when helping my younger sister with her schoolwork. Another strength is that I can relate to what it feels like to struggle with something, so I try to explain it in a way that feels less intimidating. I also like making learning a bit fun or encouraging so it doesn’t just feel like extra homework.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I think the most important thing a tutor can do is make the student feel comfortable and confident. If they’re too nervous to ask questions, they won’t really learn. A tutor should also explain things in a way that makes sense for that student, even if it means trying a few different approaches. And I think encouragement is really important too, I want to be able to remind them that it’s okay to make mistakes and that they’re improving, because that confidence boost makes a big difference.
