What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I haven't tutored anyone formally yet, but from my own experience as a student, I know how rewarding it feels when a concept finally clicks. I think what I'll enjoy most about tutoring is being able to create that moment for someone else by helping them go from feeling unsure to confident, and maybe even curious to learn more.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
Although I am new to tutoring, I draw on strategies that I use for my own studies. I understand how challenging complex concepts can be, so I break them into smaller, manageable steps. I believe this approach can help students build both understanding and confidence. I am patient and supportive, ensuring that students feel comfortable asking questions and taking the time they need to fully understand a topic.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Having received a lot of tutoring growing up, I know first-hand how challenging it can be to grasp difficult concepts. The tutors who made the biggest difference for me were patient, supportive, and able to adapt to my learning style. They not only helped me understand content but also built my confidence and sparked my curiosity. That experience shapes the kind of tutor I want to be: someone who breaks down complex ideas into manageable steps, encourages students to feel confident in their abilities, and adapts my teaching approach to suit each individual learner.

- Struggled initially to use the new technique but with repeated practice, she was able to utilise it - Gamified learning seems to engage her quite well and also enables her to put what she learns info practice as well so will be implementing more of that for the following lessons
- Needs to do a lot of practice for subtraction as she tends to forget how to do it - I have assigned a worksheet to help with coping with the switch in the questions from addition to subtraction - I will try and find a way to commit what she has learned into better practice ie. a technique that is easier to remember and apply - will also be focusing more word problems and the wording in the questions that she should look out for - may assign a test or homework the following week to try and apply what was learned
