What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy spending time with students, and teaching them techniques and showing them ways to learn, that I missed out or learnt along the way. I find teaching, engaging, and also stimulates and strengthens my prior knowledge while also being able to have the chance to help a student, excel in their studies, both content wise, but also in terms of the way to study (and showing them that there are many different ways to study, and helping them find the best techniques for them)
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I am organised, and dedicated to tutoring, I have prior informal experience tutoring music students for both vocal and instrumental, and have learnt techniques on how to engage students, and in teaching in a way that students are able to actively learn, rather than passively (especially for Biology).
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Being actively there for them, and encouraging a student to ask questions, and learn the why to the content, rather than the basic facts, so they fully can absorb and understand what they're learning. Learning the reason behind the content, gives the content depth, and helps strengthen the knowledge, for out of syllabus questions, or broad spectrum questions in exams. Also teaching them life-long learning skills, such as study techniques, by incorporating them into the subject (example for Biology, using active recall method as a way to memorise big junks of information) is necessary.
