What do I enjoy most about tutoring? ๐Ÿ˜

My favourite part about tutoring is witnessing progress firsthand, as I watch a student go from confusion to confidence. It's deeply rewarding to see a concept taught "click" for someone, and I knowing that I played a role in that growth, especially in a subject that the student possibly dreaded.

My Strengths as Tutor ๐Ÿ’ช

I am truly passionate in what I teach; I am able to come up with multiple ways to explain a certain concept (such as analogies and visuals to make ideas click). I celebrate small wins, which I believe helps students stay motivated, even after setbacks.

Most important things I can do for a student ๐Ÿ…

I believe that the best tutors must empower students to believe they can learn anything; they celebrate small wins to make learning feel rewarding, not stressful. This helps them see the progress that they made, even if it's from small steps. Additionally, I believe that tutors must be able to build confidence, personalise learning, and inspire curiosity. Good tutoring isn't just about helping students understand the syllabus, it's about helping them believe in their ability to learn and giving them the tools to succeed long after the tutor's time with the student ends.

About Thien-Khang

Confident Student Leader Who Connects With Young Learners

Thien-Khang brings strong leadership experience from serving as both House Captain and Sports Captain in high school, where he regularly mentored younger students. He has guided peers in setting goals, building self-discipline, and working effectively in teams, skills that translate directly into helping school students stay organised and motivated. This tutor understands how to make students feel heard and supported, while still encouraging them to challenge themselves and take ownership of their learning.

Structured, Goal-Focused Approach to Learning

With a background in an engineering degree, Thien-Khang is used to breaking down complex ideas into clear, manageable steps. In his studies he has worked in multidisciplinary teams to solve real-world problems, which helps him show students how Maths and related subjects are useful beyond the classroom. He focuses on setting achievable targets, tracking progress, and teaching students how to think logically and independently, not just memorise content.

Calm Under Pressure and Great at Explaining Ideas

As a starting pitcher in competitive baseball and softball, this tutor regularly manages high-pressure situations and makes fast, thoughtful decisionsโ€”skills that help keep tutoring sessions calm and productive, even when a student feels stuck. He uses reflective learning, encouraging students to review mistakes and turn them into strengths. Fluent in both English and Vietnamese, he can adapt explanations and communication styles to suit different students, building confidence step by step.
