What do I enjoy most about tutoring? ๐Ÿ˜

The thing I enjoy most about tutoring is the way I can leverage my past experiences of sitting the HSC and offer it to a student that was once me. I enjoy seeing them benefit from advice I wish I got sooner and in return, allowing them to not make the same mistakes that I did. An example of this is if I were tutoring an English student for the HSC, I would remind them to consistently gain feedback from their teachers for every essay leading up to the HSC. This way they are persistently improving their essay and not procrastinating the writing phase. I would then enjoy seeing them excel.

My Strengths as Tutor ๐Ÿ’ช

My greatest strengths as a tutor are most definitely my deep understanding and communication skills. This includes not only my academic understanding of the subjects I will tutor, but also my understanding that not everyone will instantly get a topic the first time around. Thus, I am able to adjust to the studentโ€™s needs and spend longer on a topic they struggle until they completely grasp it. I achieve this by using my communication skills I have gained from past professional experiences and rephrase the way I explain a topic.

Most important things I can do for a student ๐Ÿ…

The most important things a tutor can do for a student is always be patient and adjust to their needs. Often times I see tutors I have previously had stick to a strict guideline set by the centre, not knowing most of us (students) are struggling since they are going too fast. As this role is 1 on 1, this is more important than ever. A tutor needs to understand the studentโ€™s weaknesses and allocate more time to assisting in their understanding of a certain topic. Adjusting to their needs means the tutor actively asks questions to the student, and if unable to answer, means more time is needed.
