What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

Teaching has been a really rewarding experience. I want to help my students achieve their goals and covert their perceived weaknesses to their strengths. As a voracious reader, I also love the amount of reading that I have to do (in my favorite subjects too!) in the background before I can teach the concept.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I am a tutor who uses simple analogies to explain concepts. This makes the concept relatable to the student and helps quell confusion. I also love asking the students leading questions as I teach to encourage them to think about what they are learning (this also ensures they are paying attention and actively understanding the concept). If possible, I also try to use anecdotes from my previous professional experience/ my prior knowledge to create interest in the topic at hand. I find that these methods can create a more relaxed atmosphere for learning.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

Apart from teaching the content, I believe that a tutor must build the student's confidence in the subject. The students must go from "this is too difficult, I don't like it" to (at least) "I can study this without spiraling into confusion". Building their confidence and changing their mindset does wonders in pushing the students to do better at the subjects. It is also important to be approachable, so I really have a 'no question is a stupid question' mentality. Having the patience to discuss their questions means that the students will really think about the topic you are teaching.
