What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
Having the satisfaction of helping a student grasp a topic that they may have been struggling with previously is the most rewarding aspect of tutoring. As a student who received tutoring a lot during high school, it feels fulfilling to return the favour for other students in need.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
I don't have extensive experience with tutoring specifically, however I believe I will be able to translate my 4-5 years of coaching experience to tutoring. I am able to remain patient, adapt and think quickly on my feet which I think are important attributes for a tutor to have. I believe that I will be able to read and understand the student and then adjust my style of tutoring accordingly. Finally my willingness to learn and reflect on tutoring sessions will help me improve as a tutor so that my sessions are of a high standard.
Most important things I can do for a student π
There are two attributes a tutor can have that is most valuable for their student:
(1) Having patience - It is vital for a tutor to be patient when students are having difficulties with grasping a topic so that they feel well supported and can be persistent with their learning.
(2) Multiple Methods - All students will have different styles of learning so one way of teaching may not work with everyone. Being able to approach a topic from several different ways will help each student understand topics more easily.
