What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
Most of the time it's a 1 on 1 lesson, which means more time to engage with the student, observe their learning styles, and focus on their learning needs. I feel that tutoring brings a sense of achievement when our students begin to understand the relationship between concepts and ideas. I also love the feeling of seeing students develop into confident individuals with a bit of mentoring - it feels nice to be able to help someone else. I also find that tutoring will help me with time management and help me to create a more concrete goal of continual growth and development.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I feel that I am patient and empathetic. From my personal and informal tutoring experience, I found that these were important factors in keeping students engaged and comfortable. As a student myself, I understand that it can be daunting to ask for help and frustrating when it takes longer than 'normal' to understand what is being taught. So I want to try and make the experience of learning and asking for help easy and comfortable.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I've seen a range of different learning styles and understand that one size does not always fit all. So I believe that being able to present and teach students to see things from different perspectives will help with their understanding. Encourage a growth mindset: I feel that it is very easy to trap ourselves in a fixed mindset when we are faced with challenges. So it is crucial that as tutors, we encourage our students to think outside the box and believe that are capable of achieving greater things with resilience and effort.
