What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I love sharing my knowledge with the students I teach. I understand that Mathematics is a difficult subject for a lot of students so I really enjoy the moments when the student grasps and understands the content. I especially enjoy hearing students say that they no longer hate Mathematics as they can now understand it.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I am very patient, flexible and understanding. If a student is struggling, I will try various methods and approaches to find the right one for the particular student. I understand that a method that works for me might not work for the student so I will never force a student to follow just one method to find a solution. I also understand how stressful school can be and I can help students handle the stress level by teaching them skills such as time management and organisational skills.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to boost their confidence. This boost in confidence will increase the student's self-esteem and, consequently, will help improve their grades. If a student can finish a session with a smile on their face and the confidence that they understand the concept, the session was very successful.

Josh is able to identify what is being asked in each question and the formula that will need to be used. When he's unsure about a question in the multiple choice section, he is able to apply a process of elimination to either get the correct answer or, at the very least, narrow down the possible options. In a time constrained setting, this can be a really useful skill to have.
Nothing specific from this lesson. Josh should continue to work on his double checking (which is already showing great improvements).
Josh continues to show great understanding in all the concepts. He was able to recognise what the problem was asking and choose the appropriate formula.

Josh momentarily struggled to state the difference between ordinal and nominal data. I recommend for Josh to ensure he revises over this some more.

Josh showed a great understanding in all the concepts. He was able to recognise what was being asked and identify the knowledge that was required to answer the question. When asked why he chose a particular answer in the MCQ section, he was able to verbally explain his reasonings. It was also great to see Josh ask clarifying questions when he is unsure of something.
I recommend for Josh to continue practicising putting his thoughts down on paper. His verbal explanations are great but he does sometimes struggle to put the words on paper.

In both subjects, Josh showed great understanding and was also able to identify the areas he struggle with. He knows how to use formulas and is able to follow a worked example.
For chemistry, I have recommended for Josh to set out parts of his working out in a certain way. I highly recommend for him to make this a habit. For maths, multiplication of matrices seemed to have confused him a little at the start so it would be great for him to practice it more to consolidate the knowledge.
