What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

What I enjoy most about tutoring is the opportunity to build a strong foundation of academic skills in children which not only facilitates picking up new content further on in their education, but helps them gain confidence in their capabilities and appreciation for the subject. With tutoring, each week is never the same and I feel that it is very rewarding to help students grow not only academically but to see their personality open up more during the weeks as well.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

My strengths as a tutor comes from my current studies in psychology and my previous experience having a tutor during my HSC years. I understand the importance of students to have a growth mindset - that their intelligence and capabilities in a subject are not fixed and that they always have the potential to grow. My strengths also lie in my patience and empathy as my experience having tutors has taught me that a good tutor is not only one that is strong academically but one that creates a supportive and fun relationship with the student.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

An important thing a tutor can do is to listen to what the student wants to get out of this tutoring opportunity and how they want to go about it. I think it is easy to assume tutoring is just about getting better marks on tests and provide lots of work for them to do but sometimes students may want to gain confidence and competency in that subject instead. It is also important to take into account their school schedule to ensure the tutor is challenging the student by keeping up to date with what they have learned, preparing them for exams and being compensatory when they're busy.
