What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I think the most enjoyable and rewarding thing about tutoring is to witness the growth of the student, either academically or in terms of self-confidence and interest in the subject. Knowing that I could be the one who brings those positive changes to the student also makes tutoring an especially fulfilling experience.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
One of my strengths is patience. During the lesson, I will pay careful attention to what concept the students are struggling with and try different ways to explain it to them until they feel confident with the concept.
Another strength that I have is that I have previous experience teaching primary school students, which better equipped me with the skills to teach and interact with children in a more enjoyable manner.
Lastly, I'm a native Mandarin speaker. This allows me to better communicate with new immigrant students or parents who find it more comfortable speaking in Mandarin.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The most important thing I reckon a tutor can do for a student is to let them know that they are and will continue to be supported, regardless of how much they're falling behind. Often times students lose their interest in learning because they weren't given sufficient support when they're falling behind in school, however, this is a gap that can be bridged by a tutor. The other thing that a tutor can do for a student is to teach them learning strategies and problem-solving skills that can benefit students' lives long after the tutoring sessions have ended.
