What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
The thing I enjoy most about tutoring is how it allows me to build connections with kids and their families. I find it really fulfilling to know that I've played a part in fostering a child's skills and have contributed to their improving academic performance.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
My greatest strength as a tutor is my ability to empathise with my students. Especially when my child is struggling, I found that by empathising with them, I was able to more thoroughly understand the concepts that they found difficult. In turn, this allowed me to explain things from a more relatable and digestible perspective for the student.
Another one of my strengths is my positivity. Especially for the children I've tutored so far, I've found that regularly giving positive reinforcement really encourages students to try their best.
Most important things I can do for a student π
The most important thing a tutor can give a student is a sense confidence in their own abilities. As a tutor, by relaying my own knowledge and skills to the student, they were able to foster their own skillset in mathematics and english. I was able to watch them grow a sense of confidence in themselves, as they progressively solved more difficult questions throughout our lessons. I believe this sense of confidence is an extremely valuable trait which can be applied in all aspects of the student's life.

Caesar did have a harder time understanding the 9 times tables, but I'm happy he was able to grasp the concept of it in the end. Hopefully Caesar still retains this information next week!

Cadence still has a little trouble understanding division and deducing answers through algebra. However I feel that through practise, Cadence will be able to adapt quickly since she has an understanding of multiplication!

Caesar can actively recall a number of multiplications, especially in the 2, 3 and 5 times tables. Especially during the beginning half of the lesson, Caesar was very focused which was really great!
Caesar does have a relatively short attention span, so I think we might have to jump around different activities throughout the lesson rather than today's lesson which centred around only one topic!

In today's lesson Cadence was great at solving questions! We were able to cover each question relatively quickly with time to review the concepts in each question (eg. division and complex subtraction). Overall, a good lesson!
Cadence doesn't seem too confident in executing subtraction and division. We're still slowly learning concepts like 'carrying the one' in subtraction and the relationship between multiplication and division.
