What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy building rapport with students and making learning fun. Given the age of my students and the effect that the pandemic had on them, learning can be a daunting and boring process especially over an online platform. I like to relate to my students so that they can see that improvement is easily attainable and overall make the process more enjoyable leading to better results.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I am knowledgeable about my subjects having come from an Advanced Placement mathematics background. I am passionate about mathematics as it develops critical thinking skills that anyone regardless of their occupation can benefit from. I also encourage my students to answer problems independently and remember previous concepts rather than teaching them every step of the way. This allows for better memory in the future on how to solve problems and allows my students to see that they are independent, capable learners.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is believe in them. Many students who are not at the top of their class are there because the world has been telling them they are not capable. This leads to embarassment and thus a decreased willingness to engage. By believing in them and encouraging them, students are more likely to ask questions when they do not understand something thus allowing tutors to clarify concepts. It also changes their mindset which translates to better results in the classroom.
