What do I enjoy most about tutoring? ๐
I enjoy discovering how the students look at the concept or the way they understand it as they listen to my guidance and examples.
My Strengths as Tutor ๐ช
As a tutor, I believe my strengths are patience and resilience when I face challenges such as the students who lack focus or when they struggle to understand the new lesson. In these types of situation, I usually change the teaching approach, give them a brief break, or constructive feedback and compliment in order to keep the students motivated.
Most important things I can do for a student ๐
I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is being a friend in their learning process. This means we really listen to that student and create a comfortable atmosphere for the student so that they can open up about their struggles, or which areas they are confident in and which not. In that way, I believe we can identify the issue early and figure out the most suitable teaching methods and materials for them. As the student gain more confident in all areas, they will be motivated to study the subject and ace it.

The student can effectively memorise algebraic formulas and apply into the questions. The student works well with algebra (finding common factors, solving simultaneous equations, applying algebraic formulas, simplifying an equation).
The student should work on backchecking and double checking to avoid making mistakes in the working out (this will make it hard to keep track of what you are solving and eventually lead to an incorrect answer).
The student can identify and visualise relations (one-to-one, one-to-many, many-to-one, many-to-many) after a quick explanation.

The student memorises algebraic formulas and effectively apply back-checking while solving the questions. The student is able to identify the slope and points in linear equations by memorising the point-slope form. The student is able to identify the radius and centre of the circle from the standard equation, and graph them nicely.
When solving a question, the student needs to ask herself what is the appropriate method or formula to get the answer. In that way, the student can solve the questions quickly and in easier way. Even though the student memorises the algebraic formulas, she needs more practice on applying those into solving the questions. This can be improved in the next lesson.
