What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
I enjoy being able to offer assistance to students who are struggling in maths and watching them improve and become more confident in their abilities over time. Its really fulfilling to see students progressing and doing well in their classes after receiving that bit of extra support.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
Iβm very patient and understanding which is helpful for students learning. I am able to create a safe space for them where they can learn at their pace and feel comfortable making mistakes and learning from them. Iβm also very flexible in my approach to tutoring. Each student has a different preferred way of learning and I am always happy to change my method of tutoring to their individual needs or preferences so that they can learn more comfortably. Lastly, Iβm very encouraging and always remind students to do their best so that they feel more motivated and less pressure.
Most important things I can do for a student π
The most important thing would be allowing students the time and space to make mistakes. I believe we can only learn and grow when we make mistakes and learn from them. Mistakes are inevitable and when theyβre made, I believe tutors should give reassurance and allow them time to improve so that they can progess further and prevent the same mistakes from happening again.
Active listening and validation is also important. Sometimes it really helps if students are given the time and space to explain what theyβre finding hard and why, before moving onto to learning how to improve in the area.
