What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
Personally, tutoring is definitely a rewarding experience. It is without a doubt that academics is one of the most challenging experiences in life, especially as it determines your future. Without the correct support and resources, it can feel quite overwhelming, however, knowing that people like tutors exist to help guide you is comforting. For example, I have a younger sister and many cousins whom I've had to tutor multiple times, and every time I can assist and witness them become more confident in their academics, it is one of the most gratifying moments.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
The most apparent is the fact that I have been in the student's situation and am aware of exactly how daunting school can be. I understand the pressures they face and the anxiety of not being able to understand core concepts, however, over time I have adapted techniques to cope with all these issues and I hope to be able to pass them on and guide others. Furthermore, I have undertaken many leadership positions, including a mentoring position for fellow peers, and thus I understand how to effectively communicate with and implement the ideas and strategies they need.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Being able to relate and convey information effectively to a student is an important skill for tutors to possess. As a student, they already have teachers who supply the material, and parents who remind them to study, but as a tutor, our job is to be a guide, and friend and offer help according to each of their individual needs. Another valuable skill is being able to calmly explain concepts and spending time getting to know the student's strengths, weaknesses, and learning patterns, and customising the tutoring service accordingly.
