Mia did really well on last week's homework for expanding and factorising which is really good progress compared to a couple of weeks ago. Mia is also able to substitute numbers into a formula and solve the equation independently.
I found that Mia sometimes forgets that when there is a coefficient and variable next to each other they are multiplied. This affects her final answer as she either subtracts or adds it rather than dividing.

Mia and I went over the test together where I asked her to re-do the questions that she got wrong and when we did it together, she was able to get the right answer (different to her original answer) Mia remembers the basics of algebra such as collecting like terms and solving equations.
Mia needs to work on writing each step down so that she can see the overall breakdown of the equation that she is solving. It is a long process however, this will help her concrete her understanding on the 'WHY?' aspect of her calculations. This will also improve her basic math calculations as well. I have also noted to her that she can use scrap paper to help her solve equations rather than mentally solving it.
