What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
I enjoy being able to make someone's academic journey a bit easier. High-school/ university entrance exams are stressful even for the most high-achieving student and I often reflect on how much easier my own exam preparation would have been if I had the correct 'tips and tricks' to begin with. Having gone through that process myself, I am more than happy to share the techniques I've harnessed with new students. In fact, this element of the job makes tutoring a fulfilling role for me.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
I believe that my two biggest strengths are empathy and communication. I am able to see my former self in students, irrespective of their level of academic ability, and understand their point of confusion.
Secondly, I am able to explain esoteric concepts in ways that are intelligible to young students through reference to assumed knowledge and the use of analogies and examples.
Most important things I can do for a student π
One of the most important things is to equip the students with the skillset to problem solve on their own. While you can show students model answers, it is more important to help them develop the ways of thinking and writing that leads to the best answers.
Secondly, it is to provide students with insight to how they will be graded. I believe that understanding the grading scheme helps students construct the answers that can gain maximum credit.
